family_man --- I think you will get a good idea of the politics involved with the WTBTS memorial supper from reading around this site . They say that only those who are of the 144k can eat and drink and that everyone else is there to observe food and wine being passed around . It's completely insane .
Did You Enjoy Simply Passing The Bread & Wine At The Memorial?

I absolutely hated it. I felt that it was a real slap in the face.
Christ said: "Take and eat; this is my body"Then he took the cup, gave thanks and offered it to them, saying, "Drink from it, all of you. This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins"
so why we were not able to partake?
this was the biggest reason for me leaving the JWs.

I think if I go, I'll partake.

The best thing about the memorial was that is was usually less than an hour but the sad thing was that my parents would always get there two hours early. Thus, all time that was gained was lost and then some. Also, since our parking lot was small, we would park far away in a parking lot across the road, and then for a couple of years, I got stuck outside directing cars as an attendent. Although, being outside was better than being inside trying to figure out if any of the so called "new" people (actually just people who hadn't been to KH for years) were DF'd or not. I mean did we actually think that these people would come back after seeing this crazy ceremony with wine passing and everything? I actually think that our KH was so cheap that they used the same wine every year but I always did want to see what that unleaven bread tasted like.

I was telling someone this week about the Memorial celebration and how everyone that is in attendance simply pass a dish of unleavened bread and a glass of wine from one person to the next. She hysterically laughed and laughed and laughed.

Like many others, I had the all the usual fears of spillage, droppage and breakage.
The thing I liked most about it the most was the silence. When nobody was talking or droning on during the emblem passing--it was rather a JW zen state of mind that lasted only for a few minutes out of the countless hours we spent at the KH over the year. I rather savored those minutes of silence. The rest was like any other meeting, but it was shorter.. There was always one brother or sister in the crowd that would make the joke afterwards (or whispered during) "boy that wine sure smelled good" and everyone around them would smile and chuckle in agreement (another hilarious sidesplitting JW joke for you)
I also liked to look at the full moon on the way home and continue on in my zenlike state of mind. Sometimes people had some dessert parties at their house afterwards (AKA wholesome association). I usually didn't go--seemed a bit tacky to me. Not that I don't like to party, but you know if you really took the whole thing seriously, as the serious occasion it was made out to be, we should have all been at home praying and fasting instead of eating Duncan Hines and ice cream...As usual things just didn't seem to fit into any logical reasonable order in my mind...

So what happens if you are not annointed and you drink and eat regardless? Better yet what do the JW's think will happen if you do eat/drink?
Also how do you know if you are annointed or not?
And how would you know if someone is claiming to be annointed but just lying ... Sorry if these are stupid questions but I'd like to hear the WTS's explanation...

family_man--- Those are not stupid questions , in fact we have devoted alot of time discussing them on this forum and it usually comes up around memorial time. It seems that the society and it's cutting off of the anointing are very suspicious of anyone claiming they are in league with the heavenly class thus it boils down to a form of discrimination . Personally I don't see how anyone can partake in the event the way they arrange it and never question the WTBTS over it can be anointed . If you do eat and drink it is a declaration of anointing so it's pointless to say you are not and eat and drink . I've heard some explanations from members of the church that they believe it is like knowing you are a boy or a girl , I've heard some even claim speaking in toungues was a way they knew . I don't know if the WTBTS has ever cleared the issue up for all time but you could try contacting brooklyn for the info .

To try to make things interesting, our elders would blab on about some dammed thing, like explaining that the "crackers" were unleavened, and the wine was bla bla bla... bla bla bla... whilst we all waited to watch the "annointed" take the drink, LOL!
What a waste of efing time.
"Keep doing this in rememberance of me".
Yeah, right. Not like that, you hypocrites!

shamus -- You are right on that , the focal point seems to be on proclaiming your faith that jesus did in fact die and redeem mankind and partaking is a symbolic way of showing that you believe . I don't think it should matter what flock you happen to be put in by the WTBTS .
