I really don't see what the big deal is about this. Gays just want the celebration, ritual and ceremony of a wedding and all the legal stuff and to be recognized and not just say "my partner" but say "my husband or wife" or whatever... Why not just let them have this?
Why does it have to be gay "marriage?"

Itsall,
So we should redefine marriage for this small group? Are we also to redefine it for polygamists and incestous marriages. Brothers marrying sisters is far older than men marrying men, but it's not allowed in this country. That's it, let's redefine marriage to mean whatever you want it to mean.

Marriage used to mean one man, many/several women, where the man was the absolute head of the house and the women had no rights.
Then it meant one man, one woman, but the woman still had no rights to speak of, including participation or representation in government.
Then it meant one man, one woman, but the woman had some rights, but the woman couldn't leave the relationship short of being widowed.
Eventually it meant one man, one woman, with each accepting certain legal responsibilities if the partnership was dissolved.
How does the first one mean the same thing as the last? They're totally different states! They only have the same name by convenience!

Yerusalem, I understand what you're saying there

But you can't compare homosexuals to incest. C'mon now. It's the 21st century man!

Jeez,
What the hell are you all talking about?
Fellow nitwits; why do you insist on talking about homosexual things on a discussion board meant for surviving Jehovahs Witnesses for anyways?
I bet that your friends sure don't tolerate this kind of inconsiderate and moronic talk around them.
Here's a good thing to do; try to talk about this with people in the real world and see if they don't look at you like you're some kind of freakin' weirdo or something.
As for me, I think that I'll be going out and commiting incest, as this is obviously no different than being a homosexual, LOL!
The ignornace and stupidity on this board never ceases to amaze me.
HELLLLOOOOO MODERATORS...... HEEELLLLOOOO.... er. um... we're just having a "discussion" here, right? One that only bothers queers, so who cares?

Really I think I agree with Shamus on this one.

LOL, Phantom Stranger.
These discussions sure go better when homosexuals aren't involved in them, don't they?
Sorry to spoil your party. Maybe I'll just edit out my comments, just for you, LOL!
Arguing on the internet is like winning the special olympics.

shamus, XJWs need to hash out the way they feel about gay people IMO. And if we can debate civilly then I think it is a good thing. I agree that some of the opinons are personally offensive, but that gets to the root of the issue at hand IMO. If you think people discussing homosexual issues is a bit off check this out...*LOL* I live six blocks from the parade route...big time fun...and also one of the only times we get to drink in public here...As well, a huge diaspora of people who show up and quite a display of acceptance and tollerance IMO. I love it!...Although it usually goes from gay pride parade to drunken pride parade...*LOL* You should come down some time. You would love it!
