Well is it wrong to go out and plan on getting drunk,,,,,,tipsy,,,,,,,,,,,mellow,,,,,,,,,or "merry in heart" as the Bible puts it??????

I know that some people have addiction problems with alcohol and I dont mean to offend anyone,,,,,but there are alot of folks who on a weekend here and there, drink and just let loose. I , for one know that if you have a problem with alcohol this is a totally different subject . But I know some who can for once a month or so ,,,,,,,,,,,,,tie one on.

Do you still feel you are doing something wrong ,,,,,,,,if you dont count your drinks,,,,,,,if you go beyond gettting tipsy as the Bible , as JW's would put it?

I mean if you know you are gonna get tipsy or whatever,,,,,,,,,does it bother you? I know that an elder was working with us in a hail storm ,,,,,,,,alot of witnesses in the business,,,,,,,,and he got drunk as a skunk.........but didnt show himself ,,,,,,,,he really was ok to look at him on how he acted on the outside. But as an elder he felt the need to confess ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,he did................and lost all of his privleges as an elder and was on restrictions. He is still not an elder after 4 or 5 yrs.

Just wondering what you guys think..........Dont ya think the JW's are a little harsh on even a one time binge????????? that is all this elder did.........one time he felt he went over board.....and was punished and still is being punished for one nite .

I see no problem with it... drink up... relax and enjoy.

Every now and then I like to take a break from alcohol and other "spiritual foods" to make sure I'm not dependent.

I think it's better, if one finds that one uses alcohol to get rid of inhibitions, to just get rid of your inhibitions. Conciously, of course, since some inhibitions are a good thing.

    Them demons need exercise
    those fears need face
    Bitch slap that ego
    put it in it's place.

Then, when you are a nice, whole person, drink up

    Well,

Not if you are going to be driving

Not if at the moment you are caring for a child(ren)

Not if are going back to work immediately afterwards

    Well, you get my drift,

I don't know what is worth a hangover

(Just remember that I have an alcoholic mother)

But be a little tipsy to take off the edge, why not once in awhile. Bad habit to get into though.

Of course, JW think its wrong, but I see nothing wrong with choosing to do this once in a while excepting circumstances like those blondie mentioned. It reminds me of that beer commercial where the guy drives up and then slashes his own tires. Yeah get drunk, but make sure you've put enough of a buffer around yourself that you don't hurt anyone. Personally, I've never had the desire nor have I ever been drunk. I drink occasionally, but I really like to keep my brain functioning near capacity.

Yes, I would say it is wrong to get drunk on purpose. Alcohol is toxic after all and it is wrong to be out of control. If you had some particularly tramatic experience (like a break up) I would say that is one thing as long as you dont go overboard, like puking.

I really try not to get drunk. I used to be a "drinker", if you will.

I would tie one on, "three sheets to the wind" as it were. I would drink every day. I wasnt an alcoholic but I could drink. In 2001 one of my co-workers would hear the things I was saying and said it sounds like you may have a problem. My response was "As long as it doesnt interfere with my work I dont have a problem."

This last year in 2003 I started drinking heavier more frequently. I felt my tolerance dropping. Perhaps its a sign I have killed enough brain cells. I would stagger into work and mutter to my manager "I gotta quit drinking." As I say this the walls are moving. I could tell I needed to tone it down. Finally I got a promotion. It was a rare thing for someone to be promoted so quickly. My first day working with the department head I had the worst hangover of my life. I never missed work for a hangover before. I missed a football practice once but never work.

I felt really guilty about that, just as a person and a worker. I let alcohol impede my job performance. I have made major changes to my drinking style as a result. I was tested this last week at a BBQ/party for coworkers. Getting drunk would be no big thing, it was a real celebration but I kept it in check. I drank but very slowly.

The only time I really need to throw back a few these days is if I break up with a girl or something like that.

If I get really drunk and am throwing up I do feel some guilt as a Christian but I have only gone to that point maybe twice as a Christian. I feel just as guilty about binging on food as I do about alcohol. I dont know why Elders Know it All and crew would penalize someone four or five years for him confessing to being inebriated out of concience sake whereas Brother Fried Ice Cream gets a pass.

I don't see anything wrong with downin' a few now and then. And I don't really care what others think just as long as I'm responsable and don't hurt anyone. I'm a very happy drunk anyway.

well with the day I have had.. the last two days.. I am finally home and going to have a drink..... but then I am not driving.. I have no children to take care of.. I'm not going any where.. and my honey is here to take care of me.... so.. I'm off to have a few.. I need an attitude adjustment that only alcohol can give..

I don't think it's ever a healthy thing to get drunk but sometimes having fun with friends and such it's easy to get carried away . I don't think you will go to hell like many baptists would try to convince you of . cheers .

That reminds me that there are three religious truths in the world.

Truth #1) The Pope is recognized as the head of the Catholic Church.
Truth #2) Jews do not recognize Jesus as the Messiah.
Truth #3) Baptists do not recognize each other at the Liquor Store or at Hooters.
