The question is flawed, imo. It uses the word "wrong." What would be the criteria for making that judgment? Is it a religious call? Is it personal? Is it legal? A better word would be "ethical," imo again.

Is the person an alcoholic? Then it would be harmful to them. As Blondie said, will they be driving or have kids in their care? Etc.

Another poster pointed out that drunk needs to be defined too.

As far as a person "getting drunk on purpose," it's their own business if they're not endangering anyone. If it hurts them, then that's still their own business.

I wouldn't get drunk on purpose (in the future, haha) because I don't like to harm my body and I would hate a hangover!!

I find it totally wrong to continually drink to excess. Shameful behavior. I myself could never see myself doing that.

When I was in college, by that time already an ex-JW, I shared a house with five guys and three girls. We lived in a small town and there wasn't much to do. I can recall quite a few occasions when somebody would say, "I'm bored. Let's get wasted." So we would, the fridge was always stocked with more alcohol than most bars had in inventory. This wasn't just a weekend thing. At times it was an every night thing -- like someone would say, "hey, it's Tuesday let's drink ourselves unconscious."

After about a semester or two of that I concluded that it wasn't in fact conducive to good health so I stopped. But I really don't see anything ethically, morally, legally or physically wrong with having one too many drinks on the odd occasion.

I used the word WRONG,,,,,,,,in my question, because I was asking a question for all the posters who wanted to do my poll.

What is right or wrong, is based on someone's personal opinion.

Since this is not a scientific study,,,,,,,, I guess the word wrong, ethical ,,,,,or whatever you choose to put in the place of the word wrong,,,,,it is all personal to each person.

I asked the question ..........Is it wrong to get drunk on purpose? because I wanted to see if others thought it was wrong TO THEM, on a personal level.

    Prophecy revealed!

27 "Then tell them, 'This is what the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, says: Drink, get drunk and vomit (puke NWT), and fall to rise no more because of the sword I will send among you.' 28 But if they refuse to take the cup from your hand and drink, tell them, 'This is what the LORD Almighty says: You must drink it! 29 See, I am beginning to bring disaster on the city that bears my Name, and will you indeed go unpunished? You will not go unpunished, for I am calling down a sword upon all who live on the earth, declares the LORD Almighty.'
30 "Now prophesy all these words against them and say to them:

Some of will be blind to the divine prophecy and for that I pity you vile Apostate stupid heads...*LOL*

    Hi Lyin Eyes,

Thanks for the explanation. In that case, I would say that in a general sense "No," especially coming from an ex-JW standpoint. Interesting thread.
