No sorry needed, it IS COMPLETE rubbish. Most main stream Christians believe that CHRISTIANS are God's people. H-E-L-L-O!

No its not complete rubbish at all, most Christians do believe that Israel is Gods chosen people, they teach that a remnant of Israel is blinded for a time and will be grafted back in to the vine (Vine = Christ). It is their veiw that Israel of today is in such a state because it is being gathered for judgement (which explains why it still exsists)and then restoration. This veiw is held by most mainstream Churches except for those that teach "Replacement theolgy". To claim that most Christians do not believe in the restoration of israel is not true.

Christianity is being destroyed by jews and their propaganda (i agree w some of it). For those who haven't noticed it yet, maybe jewish reaction to gibson's 'the passion' will get their notice. Just how smart are these christians who favor/support israel/jews, while christians are dispised by the latter? I would hazard a guess that the average street urchin in cairo has more saavy than falwell and robertson combined.

    Abaddon,

I think if a Muslim nation was surrounded by Jewish nations, they'd be equally defensive as Israel is in their situation.

I simply disagree. In centuries or millenia past you may have a point but in todays modern world especially post holocaust it would be absurd for Jewish nations to seek the destruction of Islamic nations and their people and is not consistent with modern Israeli philosophy.

Also, where in the definition of 'democracy' or 'friendly' does Israel's behaviour towards the Palestinians fit in?

It fits in the exact same way as ours does toward terrorists. Israel has suffered more acts of terrorism than any other nation on earth. They are attacked EVERYDAY. And if you haven't noticed they are one of the smallest countries on Earth. The land the Jew occupy in Israel is so tiny it is absurd, and shrinking. They do not seek the destruction of the Palestinians, they are forced to live in a police state because their neighboors are in love with the hateful propaganda that is issued to them. Look at the polls that show most people in Saudi Arabia believe the Jews drink the blood of Christians and Muslims at Passover.

If you want to be honest ask yourself this. "Who is more likely to want to live peacefully amonst their neighboors, the Palestinians and other Muslim/Arabs with the Israelis or the Israelis?"

Have the Israelis been attacked out of hatred by foreign neighboors? Do the Israelis go around attacking its neighboors out of hatred?

I agree that the Palestinian issue is a tough one, however to act like the Palestinians are just happless victims rewrites history. Isreal at times causes collateral damage when targeting a terrorist cell, or leader. The Palestinians SEEK collateral damage when they attack Israel in marketplaces and school buses.

To Israel's critics: What would you have Israel do? Do you really think that the Arabs/Muslims will ever be satisfied until Israel and the Jews are destroyed? I don't, unless we do something to stop the hatred that is festered in those countries.

FIL *sigh* you usually have much more perceptive thoughts ...

The Israeli-Palestinian issue goes much deeper than this ... surely you can see that it is much more than a simple division of property?

Surely I think I made that distinction:

they are forced to live in a police state because their neighboors are in love with the hateful propaganda that is issued to them. Look at the polls that show most people in Saudi Arabia believe the Jews drink the blood of Christians and Muslims at Passover.

Keep in mind the main premise of this discussion is our (Western/American) allaiance with Israel.

FIL, yes now that I have reread your post, I see what you mean.

I have always felt that the Israelis deserved their homeland, yet I feel the pain of the people who were displaced. What a term - displaced - how would we like it?

Once again, I have to say, it's hard to know the 'right' and 'wrong' of this situation ...

Sorry, not following. How is it that the JEWS are any different from anyother NON-MAINSTREAM Christian religion? The "restoration of Israel?" I'll admit, I'm no expert on mainstream religious Christian theology, but it seems to me that MOST mainstream relgions are far more focused on life after death; they do what's right on earth and go to heaven after that. To suggest that these people in fact are actually watching for a literal "judgement" of Israel while here on earth, is quite frankly, a JW carry over. However, if you have some actual theological references from recognized Chistian leaders/scholars that DOES support your believe of some earthly fulfillment/restoration of Jews, please share. Up till now, I have heard nothing but vague generalizations.

Oh, and just as I was pushing the "submit post" button, I thought of this: If mainstream Christians REALLY felt Jews were being "gathered for judgement" what was their opinion on happenings in Nazi Germany just 60 years ago?? Sounds like quite a BIT of "gathering for judgement" to me. Any explanations as to what noted theologians felt?

Quite an interesting debate we have here . I know the jews are just as guilty as the palistinians for stirring up trouble over there , I do remember a story several years ago of some jewish zealot opening fire on moslems as they worshipped in a mosque . For all we really know some of these attacks are staged by Israel in attempts to get world support on what seems to be an ethnic clensing of palistinians. I have read in some WTBTS publications of how the jews treat their own ethnics over religion and they are not understanding in the least of christian converts . I have heard many religious groups profess that the jews are still the chosen race including pat robertson who was trying to raise money to send more jews to Israel because as he stated " those who bless Israel will be blessed ', as it says in the old testament , I agree with SS , how stupid could people be ? Yes I was pretty amazed at how GW jr. changed his stance from wanting to see a palistinian state to support for Israel and the war on terror now including palistine after 9-11. Why is the religious right in bed with Israel is definately tied to some religious belief that God will return to Israel and destroy all her enemies . Some time you should check out people like Pat Robertson or Zola Levitt. I do at times and man I can't believe what these people say at times .
