Thank you all for keeping this thread alive and for the positive feedback.

Every day people stop me wherever I am: store, street, mall and tell me they saw the Family Secrets show and how wonderful it was. Often this involves an elderly woman grabbing my arm and telling me how special I am. Hey, I could get used to this!

First off, in the funny department, this letter writer below is the daughter of the original arresting officer of my father in '81...what one person who lives in the country had to do to see this documentary! Original Message ----- From: K To: [email protected] Sent: Sunday, April 25, 2004 8:37 AM Subject: documentary I'm SO sorry Donald, I meant to talk about the show ! Lets start by saying I'm no "techno wizard". Our vcr died about a yr. ago, and we never replaced it. So in prep. for the Show I went out and bought a new one. Hooked it up and it didn't work, 2hrs. to show time. Went and borrowed my mother-in-laws, (you have no idea the sacrifice that was for me!). My husband couldn't get it to record. so I called my Dad to get him to tape it, he diconected his before he went to Florida, but couldn't hook
it back up in time.Sooo, I called my son's girlfriend in Bradford, finally
she was able to tape it for me, and a good thing to. As I sit in the living
room watching, a rain storm hits and 10 mins. into the show I loose to
satilite signal for about 10 min. I have ultimately seen it and it was
great!! You looked fantastic, and so professional and composed. Excellent
work on everybody's part. Mom and Dad saw it aswell. All good reviews!!!
Hope all is well with you, talk to you soon, K and this letter is from a secretary at my old high school shown in the film: To: Donald D'Haene Sent: Saturday, April 24, 2004 11:22 PM Subject: Re: Hi Donald: I know you are a very busy man, and I do appreciate you taking the time to e-mail me. When you get word on the shipment of your book, let me know ASAP and we will get the ball rolling on having as many copies placed in Aylmer as we can. Personally, I have orders for 7. I hope they are here before July 4, as I am leaving for my hometown in Cape Breton and I plan on putting 1 in the library at my old high school. My neice is an English teacher at that school and I called and asked her if she could get a copy in the library and she replied "you bet, bring it on" ha ha. Wowwww Hey, don't thank me for writing you, it was my pleasure in finding you and making a connection. For many, many years I often wondered where you were, if you were ok, etc. I was not one of the people at EESS who thought of you as a nobody, I was one of the people who cared...but didn't know how to show it then. Over my years at EESS I learned how to reach out to kids with problems and even though I am now retired I still want to help kids of abuse. Well Donald I will let you get back to your busy schedule and am looking forward to hearing from you when your books come in, and getting together for coffee and our visit to EESS. Take care of yourself ok and say Hi to your mom for me. A The bottom line is that this documentary has helped humanize a taboo subject. My siblings and I are not ashamed of our experience in any way. It's an important part of our personal history. We just happen to have chosen to SHARE it with the public. We did this for numerous reasons, not least of which was: -to educate -to prevent potential victims -to increase public awareness -to validate victims' experiences
