I believe in a dumb God. The evil God of Judism is just I think is enought like me to sustain belief emotionaly. The rational part of me believes that God is made up or could be an alien or wizardy thing, but I believe in God that runs the universe digitaly but does not have a complexe intelegence or heart. Just a machine of existance. I don't believe in the after life. I do believe in immortality. I don't really believe in conciousness anymore just data. You would be me if we had the same memories. I think in general everything has the same experiance of being alive but is limited by hardware.
What Is YOUR Concept of "God"?

i am not sure if there is an almighty being, or even if it is possible as i can't really understand it, but when i think about the character of yhwh in the bible is that he was a being not terribly dissimilar to us, using legs to walk on and craft for transport, and technology for shaping mankind and doing amazing things in an age where ignorrance reigned. i think yhwh, yahweh, jehovah or whatever you wanna call him, was a physical extraterrestrial being.

Many modern theologians are coming up with some pretty good answers. Dr. Wayne Dyer says "God" is what we call the source of all energy, a force which creates everything in the universe, and that we find god when we get in touch with, and stay connected to, this source.
Father Leo Booth, a former Catholic, says the key is to find the god "within," which he describes as "a large god, not a small god."
Another, whose name escapes me at the moment, theorizes this universe is a giant computer model acting out random sequences, and the intelligence behind it is what we call god.
I think the answer's in there, somewhere.

Good question.... one question and a billion answers. IMHO, God is the life force in the universe. It is within us and everything in the universe, no matter how large or small.
Without intending to gross anybody out..... .... I forgot to put the garbage at the curb one time last summer and alas, I cheaped out and didn't use Glad garbage bags. There was a small hole in the bag by the time I picked it up the next week, and there were maggots that had developed in it and crawled out of it. If garbage is "intelligent" enough to turn into a slightly higher life form, then aren't we capable of doing the same?
It took me years to "believe" in evolution after I left the borg but I certainly do now and I think that our search for God is likely nothing more than our own search for identity in this massive universe.
If that makes COMPLETE sense to anybody let me know, because it still doesn't to me...... even though it is a part of who I am......

4JWY,
That's pretty much what I was trying to say..... and you said it in so much more a direct way than me. Good for you.

In the years since becoming disentangled with "The Organisation", I have tended to gravitate towards New Age spirituality. The reason for this, I suppose, is that that is what I was "into" before being sucked-in like a gullible, idealistic fool. Well, I was only 19 at the time...
And so now, whilst not turning my back on the Christian God, I have fair had enough of this "one true religion" cobblers, and I am open to the idea of pagan gods/godesses, etc. I use the tarot, and the runes, I watch the changing seasons and I try to attune my energies to the energy of nature. Each to his/her own of course, but I personally have found these to be of value. I am still an occasional bible reader, and I even say the odd prayer now and then. I use the quaballa, the I Ching, and I have even practiced simple candle healing spells, popular among wiccans. Why, I have even found a pseudo "christian" tarot deck, called "tarot of the gnostic saints."
When I was an "elder" (ha ha!), I would have been appaled at any/all of the above, sumarrily dismissing such shocking outrageous practices as a demonic snare! Thankfully, however, my thinking is no longer conditioned and bound by such idiotic myopia, and I can actually think for myself again!

I think that "He" is everywhere, especially in the space in and between matter.
I don't generally like to use the name "Jehovah", either. Besides, it's a medieval construct.
At least the JW's gave us a name that we can avoid using, when refering to "God".
I was able to drop "JW-god" and all it's associations, along with the name.
Thank "God" they are soooo different!!! -

It's been great (though occasionally scary) to discover "again" that God is greater than I thought... but I've noticed: my 'concept'/relationship never becomes less personal as God gets bigger--only more personal, which is not what I was prepared for.
