Y'know, it's funny how people talk about how much they disagree with God's will. He's our Father in heaven, and we might better understand Him if we remember that when we were kids we never understood our parents; but that didn't make them wrong. A lot of times "because I said so," was valid because the motivation for the decision was too far beyond us. It's funny to see people judge God and make absolute statements about reality when we are not even infants on the universal scale. It's like a new born chewing out his parents. It's just makes you look ridiculous.

Dan, You are speaking as if God really exists,,in comparing him to our parents. There is no proof that god exists and so if people complain about the bible god they are complaining about an imaginary firgure or myth.

It makes me so very sad to not know what the answer is.

Forever and ever dead. Oh it makes me cry right now. To not be able to see or touch my baby girl again. To not know my great great grandkids. To never be able to talk to my grandma and have her love my daughter and tell me how much she reminds her of me. Oh these awful things I fear are true. I find it silly to believe I have a soul that survives death. But I shall die and so shall you.

frankiespeakin', nor is there evidence that He doesn't exist. Try as you might, the only thing that human intelligence will ever prove is that it isn't smart enough to figure it out. Luckily, I don't need physical evidence; I've received a testimony from the Holy Ghost, and I know He lives.

There is also no evidence that 4th dimensional purple unicorns don't exist. Are we humans are simply not intelligent enough to figure that out?

The burden of proof lies on the person making the claim. Not on the one who demands objective evidence for the claim.

    Watson:
There is no burden of proof at all.
Believers are happy with what they believe, and unbelievers, likewise.

By all means ask believers "why" they believe, but don't ever expect those answers to satisfy you.
It's a personal thing, with personal evidence (subjective, if you'd prefer, though that doesn't totally do justice to the similarities within many folks experiences).
If you don't want to taste the honey, don't expect us to successfully describe it to you...

drwtsn32, You're the one making the claim! Atheism is the newest religion on the block, son! You've only been around for less than a century. We've been around since the beginning of time. If you want to use that argument you're going to have provide the proof, sucka. The existence of God was never questioned until the last 70 years or so, so you, amigo, have the burden of proof.

LT, I understand and appreciate what you're saying... but some individuals are on a mission to convince unbelievers that they're wrong. Those need to provide the proof!
