    Theo,

Ok, I have caught up...Matthew 25 is a parable (a likeness) of those he was speaking to. What the meaning seems to infer is to be 'ready'. To not put off what Jesus was teaching, but to begin acting on it now...

On to James ( a book that is often overlooked or made light of)

The entire book of James concerns acting on ones faith. In putting your faith in action, on acting on the two commandments that Jesus gave " love God with all your heart, and love your brother".

Read the entire message. Not one sentence only. read it all and feel what the message is that you recieve. It says in essence that we must ACT. To only preach at people means nothing unless we act on what it means.

Now Theo, I have taken you seriously. I looked up the scripures that you mentioned. I gave them weight. I ask that you read James (the whole book). I ask that you read it and weigh it as a whole, and not as doctrine. Not as one sentence out of context, and not as interpreted by others. Read it yourself, and contemplate the message from god to you. Without undue influence, contemplate it. Then come back and let me know how YOU recieve that message

    Leolaia:

Do you not see the contradiction in your statement?

" Christian life is totally devalued .... inferior at least to the door to door preaching work"

Jesus was on earth to preach and as his faithful followers, Jehovah's Witnesses put preaching foremost in their lives. It would be unchristian to do otherwise.

    Larc made a good point:

"The problem with the Witnesses is that everyone has to fit into one mold, that of preaching. Some are not good at it, and they could be more useful filling another role."

Even the scriptures attest to this.

As far as the preaching work being done by the followers of the WTS, what are the fruits of that preaching?

    Theo, can you answer this?

I think the answer to this will demonstrate that just because a group is doing some kind of preaching work, it doesn't necesarily mean they are preaching a true gospel.

Jesus said: By their fruits, you will know them.

Theo, what are the fruits of the WTS preaching work?

afin..I think you mistake Leo's point.

JW life= door to door and meetings three times a week

Christian=sharing your faith through any number of works. Ya preaching however you do that best, whether it is living by example or directly to individuals about religious doctrine. Some things that might include charity work, caring for the poor, volunteer work, giving monetarily to charities, (ALL of LT's examples as far a spreading a particular religious message), loving your fellow man, etc...JW's are nowhere near this mark.

So what are we arguing? Words I think and the "meaning" of what being a Christian is. The problem w/JW apologists is that they will continually disallow any comparison/contrast to other religions. They know full well that if they even set thier biblical interpretation aside, so many religious orgs are trying to help people live right now, where it matters most to them and the people around them. It makes the JWs either look lazy or uncaring, or daresay BOTH!.

Simple even to an athiest bastard like me.

    Sincerely,

"unchristian to do otherwise"? Oh please.

Have you completly missed the social gospel? Yes you have. The word "gospel" is not a bad word first off. By the jw meaning it means "good news".

How is putting your faith in action a bad thing? Jesus did not just Preach! He taught, He healed, He cured, He made things right. What a big fat liar you are to say he "only preached"! That is such a lie!

If jesus only preached, why did we need jesus? Didnt the old testament prophets do the same? Why not just follow the ot, and moses?

I will deal with you later....right now I am concentrating on a more intelligent person.

    Stephanie:

Read Rev. 1 : 5. Jesus was ' the Faithful Witness' of Jehovah and his followers thus are Jehovah's Witnesses.
