The elder is not the sharpest tack in the desk, but he has always been nice to me and respectful, which is more than I can say for most of the dubs.

Oh... those people. I know. They probably have loads of family in it. It's hard to accept lies when everything that you believe in will be taken away from you if you dare question it's authority.

I believe he does have lots of family in the Org, but also, he stumbled years ago and did not return to the Org for about 10 years, so I think he is holding on for dear life. I feel bad for him in some ways because I am sure that he has doubts but keeps squelching them for survival. I have been there, as most have, and it is stifling.

I was always reminded of the Foghorn Leghorn cartoon, where Henry the Chicken Hawk is determined to catch a chicken. When he confronts Foghorn (the rooster), he is fast talked into believing that the Barnyard Dog is a CHICKEN!!! And then Foghorn goes around pointing out every rock and bush that Barnyard Dog is hiding behind.

That's how I felt: violated, wishes, privacy and rights totally ignored.

What kind of a stupid statement is that?? Surely Jehovah would have this message sent by Federal Express to the Board Room of the Governing Blubber when this cry actually went out! Why would the Society "need to be on the inside" of an organization developed by Satan himself to find out what Jehovah's gonna do next"?? Mustang...The thing that really ticks me off is that I blew my own cover. When my wife found out she said that I should have my head examined, and she's right. What a dumbass I am. What was in me that made me open up? I see it as a profound weakness, and it is never easy to accept weakness. I am still examining that one.

I agree. I think that was one of the dumbest explanations of the NGO issue. The dubs are always looking for an explanation, especially for things that there is no possible explanation for. I notice that this generally happens when you catch them unaware and they search for something to say to try and convince you of the purity of the WTBS. So usually when they reason off the cuff they say something incredibly stupid. The funny thing is that it sounded perfectly reasonable to him.

Good point Nos. If it was for that reason then they should have stayed as an NGO and explained it to the r&f. Why the hiding? I guess it was a case of another elder letting his mouth get ahead of him while trying to defend WTBS. You can't defend the indefensible, it makes them look like idiots.
