Baptists, JWs, Pentecostals, LDS... not much different in that respect, are they?

    Country

Amen to that Country Guy. That is so true.

After leaving the JW's. I attended a couple of Fundie type churches and found them to be no better than JW's as far as being closed minded about any other beliefs other than their own. They feel that THEY alone have the truth, and some of them are very smug about it.

And, these same type of people usually will have no problem telling you that you are going to Hell. Yeah, real nice Christians.

Lord, please save me from your followers.

JST, It's refreshing to hear that someone feels the same way, that the path to god is between oneself and god. I don't believe there is only one route, how could there be with all the diversity of mankind? Many belong to certain religion simply because of geography or circumstance, not due to faith. I think that is true of many of us here. It's sad that people of all relgions feel the necessity to push there beliefs so hard that there is no room for anything else. I think however you connect with god is the right way, and no one can convince me otherwise! -nb

She did speak of those two options, accept Jesus and go to heaven or else you go to 'hell'.

It seemed more black and white than talking ot a JW. Eyes Poppin

There ya go...why do people have to be so self righteous as to how you connect to god???

I know you well enough that you are connected to his son....

Geez...people are so petty...I wish they would get off their self-righteous horse and be HUMAN and show some real love for once.

    Jst2:
Well, maybe you made her stop and think for a second.
Meanwhile, just be careful not to judge her back. We are all on various stages of the "road of love".

As for shunning you, well, maybe you'll see if that's the case as time progresses.

Regarding "connecting", my opinion is currently that it's a once-off affair (unlike the view of some denominations). It may seem to dwindle, but once it's been made, however tenuously, it remains. Just MHO.

Thanks. You're post helped me suddenly understand holy_cheeses_king_of_the_juice screen name. I had wondered what the heck it was supposed to represent - LOL.

"People that want to share their religious beliefs with you, almost never want you to share your beliefs with them."

    That about sums it up.

She said: "You are wrong. You cannot connect to God except through 'our Lord Jesus Christ. "No one approaches the God except thought me". It told her I am glad she is able to connect to God through Jesus. I am happy for anyone who connects with God, through what ever means. But I know I connected with God as a Baptist, I connected as a Jehovah's Witness, and I connect now as a person with NO religious affiliation.

    Jst2laws,

Your reply to this woman, after she so rudly and abruptly told you that you were "wrong", tells me so much about you. You are truly a Gentleman...a gentle man. I admire you for your ability to reply to this arrogant woman with kindness. You and Joyzabel are special people. The WTBTS's loss is our gain!

How about changing this phrase to this: "Koreans, Chinese, Japanese...not much different, are they?" Or how about this: "Blacks, Mexicans, Cubans, Italians...not much different, are they?"

The religious bigotry on this board blows me away sometimes. Just because you don't understand or believe what they believe, makes you no better than they. Generalizations like this make my stomach turn. How is this any different than the judgementalism from our JW days?

((((Andi)))), I think it works pretty well if you insert "chinese, blacks, italians". Nobody, as a group, seems to value your beliefs as much as they value their beliefs. And if, as a group, they tend to preach their beliefs, I've yet to see any who encourage their people to really listen and value the preachees beliefs.

Six~ yeah I made up a new word, so what?
