Anyone ever live in a haunted house?

I just made a long reply about things that happened in my home growing up..........and it disappeared!!! lol,,,,,,,darn and I thought I got rid of those demons.

While living in my home right before i got married,,,,,I heard my father come in the back door, ask.."Dede, where is everyone at?" and shut the door behind him. I ran to the back door because I was sitting in a room watching the front of our driveway and no one drove up . We lived in a secluded area and there were no neighbors that could have just come over without me seeing from where I was sitting .

When I got to the back door, my father was not there. The door was still double locked. I opened the door and no one was there, it was as quiet as could be. Me and Denny searched the house upstairs and down and no one was there. My little sister was still bent over the tub washing her hair as she had been a few minutes before I heard the voice.

I was very spooked to say the least, even Denny heard the door open and close but he didnt hear the voice as I did.

To this day I can say that I did not just hear things that nite,,,,,,, I am sure it was the voice of my father,,,,,who was out of town cheating on my mother at the time,,,,,,,,and I am sure I heard the door open and close. I can't explain it , and although I often wonder the exsistance of ghosts, spirts, even God,,,,,,, I know I heard that so clear that I almost have to believe there is some kind of force out there.

There were many other things that happened while I lived in that house, and most of it was attributed to my mother's prescription drug abuse and my father's hidden sins at the time. That is what the JW's believe,,,,,,,,that you can "invite" the demons by a person's hidden sins.

    Dede,

Cool experience, its good to hear about convincing experiences from those who are not 100% believers.

That is what the JW's believe,,,,,,,,that you can "invite" the demons by a person's hidden sins.

I don't think that hidden sins themselves can "invite" stuff, but I do think that the general atmosphere in a place can attract spirits. What I mean is if a family have tons of issues going on then things might be more likely to "happen" and its all about what you are sending out. If you send out hatred what do you expect to attract? Just my opinion of course.

Well, this is an interesting topic.

I have not had much happen to me personally... other than the last mobile home that I lived in had 'echoes of the past' in it.

I would hear, late at night... around midnight - or even after - footsteps running through the house. Now, to me... it sounded like sound travelling through the ground, and coming up into my mobile. I figured it was from a neighboring mobile. The footsteps were like a little childs'. Running - Pause - More Running.

When I moved to my new mobile... I have never heard those footsteps anymore. I have come to the conclusion that the mobile home had 'absorbed' the sounds from through the years... of all the occupants... and had slowly released some of the more noisy ones - late at night.

(I had found a boys' hot wheels under the fridge when I moved in, so know that previously, a boy had lived there as one of the occupants.)

    .....

My daughter had an experience -

One evening, long ago - when I was still married - my wife and daughter came out to my shop/office, and asked if I would go into my daughters' room and turn on the light. They were both pale. (They are also both JWs - and firmly believe in 'demons'.)

According to my daughter, earlier that evening she had walked into the room, and reached for the light switch, and heard a man's voice - low and deep saying, "Come here, bi**h!". She freaked and went to my wife, who also freaked - and they both came to me - figuring that a man was in that room.

Well... I ain't no 'hero'... and this didn't sound like someone (if there _was_ a man in there) that I wanted to tangle with. But... I went inside, and went down the dark hall to my daughters' room. I reached inside and flipped on the lightswitch. Nothing there.

I then went to the living room where they both were... discussing what items might be 'demonized', and such.

I asked again, exactly what she heard... if her radio/stereo was on or not (it wasn't), etc. I knew that there had to be a logical reason for this.

It turns out that there was. The neighbor fella had a friend who would come over and visit. This friend had a CB radio in his car - with a linear amplifier. Whenever he would 'key' the mike, he could broadcast to California!

I figure that he was in the middle of a conversation with one of his fellow CBers, and it happened to come through my daughters' speakers - using the speaker wire as an antenna.

But at the time... they were BOTH spooked... and I was too. *grin*

LOL great story Jim. Maybe that is a possible explanation of why me and my partner have heard someone "shout" in our house from the top of the stairs. There are no speakers there, but maybe the speakers downstairs... dunno.

(smiles at Bull01lay and bends over) Maaaaaake it hurrrrrrrrt! heheeh

I belong to two ghost hunting/investigation groups, and from what I've learned is that these entities feed off human emotions such as fear, anger and confusion. They gather strength from these emotions and can begin to manifest in different forms: mists, shadow people, orbs, dreams, etc. Of course, this is only a theory and is one of many, just one that seems to make more sense to me, as skeptical as I am.

    Great stories, folks!

Well Sirona, glad you liked that one.

    I have another one though.

My aunt. She claims to be able to 'see' folks (mostly relatives) - either right before... or just after... they die. She has told me of several occassions where she has 'seen' them appear in her living room. She will speak to them, as they are looking about... sometimes with a confused look on their faces.

She says that she saw my mom - the day she passed on - from the side profile. She says my mom was looking about... confused-like. She called out to her, then my mom disappeared. Well... I feel this adds up quite nicely. After all... my mom was a JW. She didn't expect to morph into a 'spirit person' after she died - hence the 'confused' look. hahahahahaha

I tend to believe this - as we _do_ pass on to another dimension when we pass on - my aunt just happens to be 'tuned in' to seeing this.

She also speaks of things that are moved about in her house. She calls it her 'guardian angel'... I think it is her dead (now spirit) husband looking after her.

    Something to think about.

The house we grew up in was haunted. It was built in the 1880's, and my belief is that the ghost was the original owner. At the time we lived there, we were only the 3rd family to ever live there.

My family was very active with witness activities at the time, so none of us ever talked about it at the time, though we all saw it on many occasions, though my dad at this time still won't talk about it.

We would hear it walk up the front steps of the house, and walk around upstairs. I personally saw it probably over 100 times. It would go right through walls.

A few years ago my mom questioned my sister and I about it, and we both described it the same, and never had talked about together until after that point. I called it the shadow, and it had a green misty tint to it. Also had what appeared to be a top hat like Lincoln wore, and a long jacket.

My mom woke up one time with it standing next to her bed while she was sleeping. Just stood there for maybe 30 seconds or so, before she screamed and it took off.

Never did harm us physically, never made things float, etc. The day my parents moved out of the house, my mom was in the living room looking around for the last time, with her dog. Both just standing in middle of the room, when she and the dog suddenly heard wailing coming from her room. That is the only time we remember anyone actually hearing the ghost make any noise besides footsteps.

Would I live in a house today that was haunted? Hell no!

I realize I don't know everything, but this I do know: Ghosts do exist, whether you want to believe it or not. What are they? Why are they here? Don't know, but I know what I saw, and it was not from this world as we know it.

For those of you interested in maybe seeing some ghosts (a big maybe here), there is a web cam that is set up in an old abandoned hospital somewhere in Oklahoma City. You can watch from four cameras posted at various locations in the hospital. They also have screen shots that people have caught on the cameras while watching them. It's kind of boring, but who knows.. maybe you'll see something!
