The way I see it is if God is a God of Life, why would he restrict it to one planet in a universe this vast? I bet there are billions of worlds with life on them, some are probably still paradise worlds and others are probably like ours, even worse.

Good point. Depending on their attitude, it could well be that other beings have dicovered how to live in a paradisaical environment free from the violence and corruptiveness that we see here.

OC,
There is a place like that dammit! Russell, Rutherford, Knoor, Freddie, and the rest of the old timers, are all there having a blast at the annointedfest in heaven that they have there everyday!
It's awesome dude! If you'll come back to the Organisation and start drinkin the wine and eatin the bread......you can go there too! It's like being at the Yankee Stadium in 58' I tell ya! It's real pretty there too, but I haven't seen any pics yet.

Sure is hard to admit one is a scientist around here! Communism has its hatred for the intellectuals, Dubbies and their Xs seem to too!

Hey, Carmel
Sorry! My comments probably sounded pretty harsh.
I didn't mean to diss scientists; my criticism was for those who treat it as a 'religion'. Just because something is yet to be proved, does not mean it isn't a possibility. It's the worship of science that is, imo, the problem, not the science itself.
Wanted to be a physicist myself, as a youngun. Too old for that now, though. :D

Well as things to worship go, Science is head and shoulders above most things, save for a pair of well turned calves. As science is merely the mechanics of honesty, I think it deserves far more respect than most people are willing to give it.

got my forty homey?
I dont think anything exists out there. Theres to many coincidences that put our planet here. Just the right length from the sun, atomsphere, a moon to help us maintain out sanity. BUT if there was life on other planets and they came here to eat us or destroy our Earth it may good because then the Muslims and Communists and Amercians and Europeans would all unite to kill them.
Then we would all get along here in JWD, and Simon would have to find other reasons to edit posters he doesn't like.
But I love you site Simon holmes!

Wishful thinking there..... we know the real thing is that religions would see it in fulfilment of Prophecy and wouldnt care about the rest getting wiped out. There would be no uniting it would just turn into chaos and the aliens wouldnt really need to do much. Which is probably their plan.

Religions might not, but govts would. Compromise is the specialty of politicians. Bush and his 'coalitions', etc.

The satelite senses (New) infrared light coming from 420 light yrs away. That means that that (New) light has been traveling through space for 420 yrs.
identify what kind of organic chemical
I believe that the mechanism is something like the following: each element has its own spectrum of (New) light that it reflects. You can see those colors if you break it up the (New) light w a prism. I would think that working w (New) infrared light would be similar to working w (New) white light. Perhaps someone who knows more could fill it in, or research it.
Thanks for the new light, Satanus.
