    Thanks for sharing Xenawarrior.

We had been out to Applebee's and had eaten chicken fajitas - we returned home and when our pet chicken didn't come running across the yard to greet us we were worried.

Shortly thereafter, we spot a hawk sitting on the fence - he'd fly away and keep returning. Eventually I went to look over in that area, and I found my pet chicken's HEAD laying in the brush! Just the head - I freaked out and knew what Chirpy's demise had been.

I didn't eat chicken for a very long time after that.

Its sad and funny at the same time.

It just reminds me of the time my step dad took my moms pet cow and made meat out of it! After she scared the crap outta him with the shot gun, he slept on the couch for two months.

She couldnt eat meat for a while either.. lol

Sunspot:That was such a sweet story about the camera I remember my older brother had a camera you looked into the top and captured what you wanted then snapped the picture. And film lay around for yeras before anyone got them developed and then you were years older or the film ruined and the memories were lost.I enjoy your posts thanks.

Thank you Stefanie and Bem'sMom !! I enjoyed sharing them.

And thanks for the story Annie !! I remember the old cameras from the early 60's. Look how far we've come !! When I was 18, I worked in a photography lab. I worked on a printer that could still print from those 20R and larger negatives. It was a big ole printer that you could tell had been around for a very long time! Several years ago my mom gave me all of her old negatives of us when we were babies and such and I was still able to get them printed at that lab. Funny, though, the negative of the picture they took of me, asleep in my high chair with my face in my dinner, was mysteriously not among them.

I'll keep you all informed on what is going on with the backyard hawks.

Stephanie: thank you for the mixed emotions. I'm sorry your mom had a cow. I mean, I'm sorry for the loss of it.

Xena: This thread has been as interesting as the Travel Channel and OLN put together. Keep up the good photojournalism!

Ya'll make me wanna go invest in a digital camera now. I still have an ancient lil 110 film type camera. My coworker was laughing at me tonight because we had our annual hot air balloon competitions all this week and we went out there to see the Balloon Glow tonight and I pulled out my lil whipper snapper camera and she laughed at me. Said I needed to step it up a notch. After seeing the pics on here I now want a better camera. I'm gonna get one too. I hope the few lil pics I took will come out being that it was nighttime. I took some pics of the fireworks too. My coworker said they might not come out because fireworks come out better on video cams and digital cameras. I'm gonna be upset if they don't come out but I'll still have the memories in my head. Where I work at the launch/balloon field is directly behind my office and I see them taking off all morning. I'm gonna try to take some more shots later on this morning when they start taking off around 7 am. Then they have a mass ascension at 6 pm. So I hope my lil rinkie dink camera makes me proud.

I should have been gotten a better camera because I love taking pictures. I just found this camera a few days ago when doing some ultimate cleaning in my room before school starts in a few weeks. I love taking pics. How much does a good quality digital cam run?

Thanks for the nice comments on my post about my camera, etc! Bem's mom's brother's (Bem's uncle I presume LOL) camera was probaly the same model as mine.

Sweetpea, I hope you pics come out! I LOVE seeing hot-air balloons! Ever since I was really young, and happened to see one, it always made me so delighted somehow---so magical and adventurous! All the colors and designs! A few years ago we were traveling through western MA and we happened to see several of them from along the highway---I was like a little kid! They just make me happy inside for some reason.

I forgot to mention the two pairs of male and female red-breasted grosebeaks that come to our feeder every day. They are so pretty---I can't believe I forgot to add them to me list! The bird I couldn't remember the name of was the Indigo Bunting---the color is amazing.

It's nice to see so many who appreciate birds on here---I always think it sounds so "old-ladyish", like the "kooky lady from next door" on tv and in the movies, LOL!

    hugs,

    Annie
