Some have claimed life altering - to- complete life changing experiences. All in a personal one on one "confrontation" for lack of a better word. Mass delusion?
Yes, there is even a book out, w personal interviews of people who had these experiences. Thinking back, of one of my experiences, when i saw jesus, sitting on a chair (thrown?), getting up, offering it to me, my reaction of joy, then dancing, then most in the church doing the same, uncontrolably. Having read some about witchcraft/conjuring since then, about how a magik practicer can actually create a spirit being, filling it w energy and purpose, i think that the same can easily be done by groups using similar techniques. The more, the merrier, as the saying goes.

Satanus,
Everyones experience of the "confrontation" is different, as different as one individual is from the other. It is not our place to judge how people react to this experience. Especially since, being imperfect, we have a tendency to be critical of "things out of the norm."

Gumby... Like when Ned Flanders built the amusement park for the dearly departed Maude...people started seeing visions and such, but it was just a gas leak. Just a note: after I got out to of the JW's, I lived with a Charismatic Christian Woman for a few months. She was a truly great woman who spoke in tongues and tried to convert me to her ways. I believe that she believed that she could really do that. I believed that many of the young people in her church really were "in love" with Jesus. (Not in a Cartman Faith + 1 way) I tried to feel that magical power, I asked for God to show me the way. I tried to speak in tongues. Then, I went to a baptist church. Again I tried to feel that magical love. I tried to feel what the baptists felt as they waved their arms in the air singing and feeling Jesus on their faces as if they were getting a Jesus tan. I wanted to be the people in the Music 4 Worship commercials. After several attempts, I found that in each situation I ended up feeling that everything was incredibly FAKE! Maybe I just don't have the Holy Spirit or whatever. Maybe I didn't try hard enough. Maybe it's not my time. Or maybe a personal relationship with Jesus is a way to ease guilt/please parents/impress the other sex/feel good about yourself/feel justified in feeling superior. I can only imagine...

sorry for the double post, I am still having trouble with formatting
I recommend you read these two books by GA Wells, The Jesus Legend and the Jesus Myth. He goes through all the evidence.
Jew, after you read all the books out there pro vs con on Jesus and or His "ordination" it comes right down to YOU and your belief, YOUR understanding, YOUR acceptance of Him. Don't let anyone else dictate what your heart wants. Your mind might think that in order to believe you must turn to a certain "religion", Do not believe that. Your heart and mind must turn to Jesus, or God (if you are "stiff-necked" )

Just to requote myelaine for you;
Your heart and mind must turn to Jesus
Don't let anyone else dictate what your heart wants.
