    Welcome ko38!

Realizing the Watchtower is a crock is both liberating and terrifying at first! I was a loyal JW for almost 30 years and raised five children and a grandson in that hideous excuse for a religion.

I hope you continue to stick around here and ask any questions that you need to, the road out of the WTS is bumpy but well worth the effort.

    hugs,

    Annie

I think the WTBTS has proven to be the evil slave . Leaving is better than listening to a bunch of lies . We can all sympathize with you , I still think that reading the bible and believing in christ is a good thing . Just now you don't have to give someone elses answers when asked "what do you believe". You won't be hated for speaking your mind on things .

Well the illustration used by the WT concerning other religions is: If a glass of water had a drop of poison in it would you drink it?

Well there are more than a few drops of poison in the JW teachings.

    Welcome KO38

Welcome, KO38. From what I have experienced here on the board, I suggest you avoid all organized religion for a time and spend some time re-exploring your beliefs. You might enjoy reading the bible without any study aids, especially what Jesus said and did. Even if you don't become a regular poster, please check in with us once in a while and let us know how you are doing.

the elder asked where else could we go?

This is imo is the silliest red herring of a question the dubs ask. Don't the people they ask to leave their religions ask the same question? So?

I tell ya where i'm gonna go. I'm gonna spend time with my kids instead of forcing them to be quiet for five hours a week. I'm gonna teach them to read the classics instead of cramming WTS propaganda down their throat all the time. i'm going to watch them play sports, or debate team instead of field service. I'm gonna watch saturday morning cartoons instead of going in service. I'm going to have barbecues with my kind loving worldly friends who have actually given me help when I needed it instead of telling me to pray more and go out in service when I was too sick to do so.

That's where I'm gonna go. I'm gonna live instead of living some bizarre half life. I'm going to help people who have had their abuse, spiritual, physical and sexual at the hands of pharisees, just like m' man Jesus Christ taught me. Take them in, feed them and clothe them instead of cramming a watchtower down a starving man's throat.

Welcome K038 and partner, Your journey has just begun. This forum is a good start. Meeting people like yourself who have left the JW org. Making friends who aren't JW's. I guess I feel similar to Aviashi. I am going to live my life to the fullest not being repressed by a Cult/Religion. I try to show love to my neighbour as expressed in the bible every day. Do my part for the World to make it a little bit of a better place to live for my kids and other people in general. I don't feel that knocking on doors and sitting at the Kingdom Hall for me at least was accomplishing that. The World has alot to offer us. It's not this horrible place that the Witnesses make it out to be. We have to make the best of it. Like you and your partner are doing now. All the best to you. What a big step. I look forward to learning more about you both. RHCP (hugs)
