Well the illustration used by the WT concerning other religions is: If a glass of water had a drop of poison in it would you drink it?

Does anyone know where this is stated? I am in the process of creating my DA letter - also trying to help my cousin 'out' before I DA if possible - I would like to use that quote if possible -

    Thanx Jeff

Welcome KO!!! Congrats on your escape!!!

I love the "where will i go" question. For me: College (for starters), the Red Cross to donate blood, bank to start an IRA, the YMCA (cheap gym), etc....OH and Thursday night TV is awesome! I have a great life now - and am more of a spiritual person than I was when I was a dub. Believe me, there's plenty of places to go once you are free!!!

    Enjoy your new life!!!

(PS thx for the "drop of poison" quote - that's such a good point)

    Welcome KO38 and wife,

This is a good forum for you to ask all the questions that are in your head and those to come. There are many people here who have knowledge beyond anything you will get from the "canned" answers from the elders. I know because I used to be an elder.

When you are learning the truth about the WTBTS (from real facts) it is probably the most life shaking thing you can go through. We were conditioned for so many years to accept only what came from Brooklyn and to deny anything else (even writings and music about Jesus Christ).

We even used scriptures to "witness" to others to keep seeking and see if they have the true religion........just as the Boereans did.......and those same scriptures we would reject........ because we had the "truth" or so we were led to believe.

Please just remain teachable. You also have to be careful what you say to other JW's since you may become "marked" and even df'd. If you want to successfully fade as I and so many others did, keep your feelings to yourself for the time being. Once you have all the knowledge about the WTBTS that you really know to be true, then you can decide to make a stand if you wish.

My totally leaving took over 5 years and I can say that since 2000 I am totally free and happier than I have ever been....and I still believe in God and know that I am loved unconditionally.

    HappyDad
