LOVE the 'who will take care of my mother?' comment!!!!

LOVE IT! That'll end it all right there. It's your trump card.

Surely the elders and pioneers don't want to take on that responsibility.

Better for them to say you drifted away and have been gone for so long now.

    Best of luck (keep smiling!)

Dave said if they call him on the phone and ask if we have a Christmas tree, he is going to ask that elder if he masturbates. When he is shocked that he would be asked such a personal question, Dave will tell him he won't answer personal questions either.

    I thought it was hilarious.

I think that's hilarious too......as everyone else has said! Glad you are not threatened by this turn of events. I hope you can continue to see your friends.

Just catching up and sorry to hear the news. However, sounds like you have the situation, whatever it may end up to be well in hand.

    Dave, you had us rolling!

I think, similar to what someone else posted, one of you should choose to be the "unbeliever" and the other has to tolerate the tree!?

    Aloha,

I lived that lie for a while. Why don't you leave? I know sometimes there are just enough reason to stay, but there is nothing like complete freedom no matter what the cost.

We are so busted. I learned tonight, from my source, that someon saw our Christmas tree and reported it to the elders.

Just one? I thought they needed two? Tell em when they have two, to call you back, but until then, don't waste your time. Until they have substantiation from another, it's just here-say, kinda like when a child tells the elders her daddy molested her.

Hello there Namasti. Welcome to the board. I realize you probably don't know Mulan very well, but she is not in and hasn't been for years. She is not living any lie. Her only concern is how a da'ing would affect her very elderly mother who is still a believer. That's the only reason...but I'm sure she'll tell ya. Like myself who still has a mother in the org, we do care about their feelings, even though it may mean not sharing with them the things that are part of our lives. (like Christmas) But we enjoy the freedom for the organization, much like everyone else here on this board.

Well, We have a little Christmas tree set up, too. You can't see it from the street, but, if they come on the porch they can. I was planning on blaming "that woman that was given to me" she...made me do it. See...she's never been a Witness, s-e-e... That DID work for Adam...didn't it ?

If they come over and see the tree, just tell them you were "minding it" for someone, who is on vacation.

The rule of thumb is 'does the congregation or the public at large still consider the person to be one of Jehovah's Witnesses?' If the answer is no, then it is unlikely that they will attempt to take any action against you

Oh no, I most strongly disagree! It may seem nice to believe it but believe me it's just wishful thinking! I know.
