Gosh who has it in for your family. Some jealous single guy living in his parents driveway? He wanted some attention so he stalks your family (can he get arrested for that). Mulan. They tried the same thing with CJ and I. I refused to meet with them, and hand delivered a letter to the P.O. who originally tried to set up the meeting.

The did not attempt any further communication after that, but we knew "the word was out"

We are going on 10 years now.....

Here is the culprit.

"It being winter and needing firewood, we prayed to Jehovah to help us make it through the season. We were driving along and here was this lovely decorated tree in the road. It must have fallen off a truck. We took it home and put it next to our fireplace. It will help take the chill off the house in the evenings. Jehovah has surely provided for us!"

He is the ex husband, who has remarried by the way, of Dave's niece. He blames us for her leaving him. He needs to move along with his new wife, poor thing.

Mulan, in my professional opinion you should not go down for a Christmas tree. You need to fight this.

Now since the tree is not visible from the front door, the informant likely peeped thru your windows or even gained access to your residence. Whether you actually fight the charge or not depends on whether a couple of elders investigated by spying thru your windows themselves. We all know elders are very capable of this sort of behavior.

You should try and find out before deciding whether to fight back or not. It sounds like you've got a decent intel network in your congregation.

If you find out that just this one jackass is witness to your tree, well you've got the advantage. Schedule a meeting before Christmas and conceal the tree. Watch their behavior when they enter your home. Both elders will immediately look in the direction of where the tree was reported to be. Then observe their reaction to its absence. Play slightly shocked that someone would accuse you of having a Christmas tree and demand to know who said such a thing. At all times, maintain control of the conversation and keep it focused on who said it and not why. Keep the visit short and send them on their way feeling embarassed and frustrated at the snitch, not frustrated at you and your husband.

I'll say it again. A Christmas tree is not something that you of all people should get nailed for.
