and I am so angry about it. He leaves on the 29th of January and will be gone for 15 months. I am so scared that if I think about it for too long, I have panic attacks that leave me breathless and immobilize me. How in the hell can they make our boys go again after they make it home once already? And Bush says that there is not a draft but they have extended my son and all the troups time by calling it an "involuntary extension of time" when in fact it is just a draft. They are drafting them for more time.

Miata- I'm really sorry for you and your son. I wish I knew what to write down here but I haven't ever been in anything close to your situation. So all I can say is I wish all the best to your son and you.

That seems to a common pattern, miata. I think the military is straining at the seems trying to fulfill their obligations without a draft; recruitments are down.
I have 3 coworkers that went back for the second time last month and several units in the Guard went back for a second time. It certainly plays havoc with their lives. So many of them are married and have several children. My cousin finished his obligation in the reserves 5 years ago and he is afraid he will be called up.
May things go well with your family.

Sad news to hear. Things not looking good in Irak.
I fear it'll soon turn into a Vietnam deal, with the drafting of people and all.

Best wishes to you and your son. I know it is a difficult time.

Miata:
I am so sorry that your son is having to go back for a second time, that just seems so unfair that Bush is making these people go back on this "involuntary extended time" clause. Your family and son will be in my thoughts and prayers until he returns. Perhaps it might help you if you talk to other military families on a discussion board similar to this, although I really don't know where to look for that sort of thing. Godspeed to you and your family... and please know that we are all proud of those in our military.

Yeah. What freedom96 said. Lot I could say about Bush (of the Mandate Class), but I'll leave it at:
I hope your fine son stays safe and you get him back just as he left. -

I'm so sorry Miata! I truly hope you get your son back home safely, along with all the other men and women serving.
Does your son feel okay about it? If he's proud to serve, maybe you can take some comfort in his honor? I don't know the answer. But I hope you'll both be all right.

So sorry it took so long to get back to you all. I appreciate all of the support. My son is NOT ok about it. He is proud but he believes that we are dishonorable in some of our endeavors. And he cannot abide by all of the killing that he was forced to do. He left 2 days ago and I am, needless to say, a wreak.

I am sorry to hear this news. I want to tell you that all will be okay, but I cannot lie and say that, as it would be unfair and dishonest, because I don't know what will happen, but I will pray for you both that he returns to you unharmed in body and spirit.
