Haa good one Steve! I still have mine too! I was delivered by a dope smoking hippy doctor who believed like verse 2.
Your right, freedom belong to Christians not to witnesses. My organization has created its own Mishnah, with its S-4 forms, OM & KS91 books, no beards, no oral sex, national averages, and on and on and on.

OK, So I'm thinking about becoming a witness.
... ... 3 ... 2 ... 1 ... 0 ... WAKE UP !!! ...
Sorry I'm on short kidding mode - just need to go into some fluff right now (had to focus to much those last few hours) didn't read your poste and the answers you got yet (but will come back latter) if I feel like something serious (or not) to say ... have tun here !!! ENJOY and your life !
sorry to dwell on the oral sex thing again but im baffled with the below quotation... *What, though, if one mate wants or even demands to share with his or her partner in what is clearly a perverted sex practice? The above-presented facts show that porneia involves unlawful sexual conduct outside the marital arrangement. Thus, a mate?s enforcing perverted acts, such as oral or anal sex, within the marriage would not constitute a Scriptural basis for a divorce that would free either for remarriage. Even though a believing mate is distressed by the situation, yet that one?s endeavor to hold to Scriptural principles will result in a blessing from Jehovah. In such cases it may be helpful for the couple to discuss the problem frankly, bearing in mind especially that sexual relations should be honorable, wholesome, an expression of tender love. This certainly should exclude anything that might distress or harm one?s mate.?Ephesians 5:28-30; 1 Peter 3:1, 7.* SORRY FOR BEING CRUDE BUT IN MY HOUSE...I WOULD BE UP FOR DIVORCE IF I DIDNT GIVE AS WELL AS RECEIVE...WOULD ANYONE PURSUE A DIVORCE ON THE GROUNDS THAT THEIR PARTNER WANTED TO PARTAKE OF ORAL SEX....I THINK NOT....OR AM I BEING NAIVE... I should get off my soap box i know....but im still baffled...
Aye, you are right. You see when they created the injuction against oral sex, they also created the problem of how to sanction someone for doing it.
Logical reasoning would lead some to believe "If its bad enough to be DFd for, it must be Pornia" They dont have a scriptural leg to stand on in calling it pornia, so they call it uncleaness (still no leg), which isnt grounds for divorce in their eyes.
The whole "distressing situation" is artificial because they created the "distressing situation" with an artificial rule. So they come up with artificial 'fer instances' to cover their artificial behind.
Do your research without WT publications!
On oral sex: I had no idea this was not allowed! My husband (non-religious) wouldn't have put up with me wanting to be a jw if I brought that up...and stopped! I wouldn't have blamed him, either!
As for education: one of the last get togethers I attended was a housewarming party, in which my husband was the only non-witness there. We watched this 'new' dvd, I think it was a Young people ask...A hs senior was going to be accepted into college w/a track scholarship and he got the guilt trip of his life..wanting to do anything other than serve jehovah.
So although it's not brought up in the exact words of, "Don't go to college", it is definately looked down upon the exact same way most of you have experienced. When we left, my husband was commenting on it saying that it's bullshit to get your kid to give up a full ride to college doing something he/she loves, in order to lead meetings. Silly brainwashed me still tried to convince him it was for the better, even though I could no longer believe those words myself.
Are you out of your mind ??
Sorry but that was the first thing that came into my mind....
Welcom MarkAnthony - please do some investigations.
Whatever you decide be happy with your life.
Lonelysheep i can certainly concur with you on that...as a witness growing up i was prevented through force of conscience to pursue my career; then again...its the only way to keep people surpressed... take away their ability to reason, question, and critically assess and that is what education does....as the old professor at university says....accept nothing until its proven....question everything! Wise words i believe.
Hi Mark Anthony! Welcome to the board!!!!!
I'm an ex-Witness who converted TO Catholicism after years of prayer, bible study, and historical research. If you're interested, www.catholic.com (Catholic Answers) has some good articles on Jehovah's Witnesses. I'd also recommend you study the New Testament BY ITSELF, reading it slowly and prayerfully, asking the Lord to give you the insight He wants you to have. And I recommend that you read the writings of the Early Church fathers (those who lived many, many years before Constantine supposedly "invented" apostate Christendom) and see for yourself what the early Christians actually believed. Also, though it's not directly related to Jehovah's Witnesses, I strongly recommend that you go to www.amazon.com and order a copy of CATHOLICISM AND FUNDAMENTALISM by Karl Keating, *****before****** you get involved with the JWs. May the Lord bless and lead you on your spiritual journey. Warm regards, Jaypeeto
Coming here for opinions on becoming a JW is like asking for good references on a person from an ex-spouse. Get it?!
