Coming here for opinions on becoming a JW is like asking for good references on a person from an ex-spouse. Get it?!

Okay, you're correct in this regard Jaypeeto.
If anyone is considering becoming a JW, just keep in mind that you'll be distancing yourself from your family, of course unless they embrace the WTBTS as well.

Ok i was brought up in the organisation; but didnt know abou this oral sex thingy....wheres the scriptual basis for that rule then....it would be typical though wouldnt it....if your a JW you cannot have any fun...
LOL They explain this after your baptisms or with time you understand by yourself.
Lots og JWs do have oral sex anyway. But they dont feel like telling the elders of course.
And some JWs lie about their clean conduct because they whant to ge married in the hall...

Anyway, when they do this study my husband ask an elder (Bethelite) and he said that if a marriage do it it?s all right, the problem were if other people know it. I was in shock for the answer?but he gave us green light LOL

LMAO! We should also add that if you enjoy celebrating Christmas, your families' birthdays, Mother's Day, Father's Day or Easter, do not join this religion, as these are all forbidden. Also, if you enjoy freedom of speech, or the freedom to think for yourself, steer clear and these aren't allowed either. And finally, if you value higher education and sleeping in Saturday mornings, for God's sake, don't join this religion!!
If you like being brainwashed , controled or manipulated that's the place to be . Brother your feild service hours are down you need council and or public reproof . They will tell you how to act how to answer the questions in their publications what to wear what to say how much money you can make how everybody is evil except those in the ORG, who your friends are and not to visit sites like this . Now then if you can live that way , go for it ........
There is was a thread I remember, I can't find it, but it was all about things that you can't do if you're a JW. Maybe someone remembers what the title was? I tried searching but couldn't find it.
It's a must read for anyone thinking about becoming a JW.
Here are just a few of the things you have to give up
All your non-JW friends (and family for the most part)
You have to give up control of your sex life (or be willing to lie about it)
They won't want you to go to college or persue a career. "Jobs" are for earning enough to support your ministry; that's it.
If you're a woman, you have to give up ever being considered an equal being to a man. You will always be lesser, and you will always have to bow to male 'headship' at home, and in the congregation...

If you enjoy having your children or future children thrive in school, and participate in sports or other extra-curricular school activities, or yourself be a member of the local PTA, perhaps you shouldn't consider becoming a JW.
If you enjoy dressing your children up and taking them trick-or-treating at Halloween time, thus having a friendly and fun interaction with your neighbors, perhaps you shouldn't become a JW.
If you want your children to have a normal development, perhaps you shouldn't become a JW.
