Because they do not prophesy (cannot be a false prophet if you are not a prophet), they study and interpret prophesies already written in the Bible. Two completely different things. (30 words).

Would you care to explain this statement then, Sword of Jah?

*** Watchtower 1972 April 1 p.197 'They Shall Know that a Prophet Was Among Them' ***

People today can view the creative works. They have at hand the Bible, but it is little read or understood. So, does Jehovah have a prophet to help them, to warn them of dangers and to declare things to come?

    IDENTIFYING THE "PROPHET"

These questions can be answered in the affirmative. Who is this prophet? ... This "prophet" was not one man, but was a body of men and women. It was the small group of footstep followers of Jesus Christ, known at that time as International Bible Students. Today they are known as Jehovah's Christian witnesses. ... Of course, it is easy to say that this group acts as a "prophet" of God. It is another thing to prove it. The only way that this can be done is to review the record.

I will give it my best shot Scully:

There are many aspects to the work of a Prophet: It could be to prophesy, but it could also be to spread Jehovah's message. The quote you posted says the "Prophet" refers to "they are known as Jehovah's Christian witnesses". I am one of Jehovah's Witnesses and I certainly do not prophesy, but I do preach the good news.

Just in case there's any question whether the above statement was made just once or erroneously:

*** Holy Spirit ? The Force Behind the Coming New Order! (1976) p.148 ch.8 "Spirit of Life from God Entered into Them" ***

The facts substantiate that the remnant of Christ's anointed disciples have been doing that prophesying to all the nations...

    *** Watchtower 1959 January 15 pp.39-41 Down with the Old?Up with the New! ***

... but, Who will be Jehovah's prophet to the nations, to speak to them everything that He should command? Who will be the modern Jeremiah? ... So who will prophesy with his message in this time of the end of the nations of this world? ... How was the question answered? ... The fact that decides the answer to the question is, not, Do all the clergy of Roman Catholicism and of Protestantism agree that Jehovah's witnesses have been and are God's prophet to the nations? but, Who discerned the divine will for Christians in this time of the world's end and offered themselves to do it? Who have undertaken God's foreordained work for this day of judgment of the nations? Who have answered the call to the work and have done it down till this year 1958? Whom has God actually used as his prophet?

14 By the historical facts of the case Christendom is beaten back in defeat. Jehovah's witnesses are deeply grateful today that the plain facts show that God has been pleased to use them. ... It has been because Jehovah thrust out his hand of power and touched their lips and put his words in their mouths...

*** Watchtower 1982 October 1 p.27 Be as Men Who Are Facing Har-Magedon Unafraid ***

8 In behalf of such individuals who at heart seek God's rule instead of man's rule, the "prophet" whom Jehovah has raised up has been, not an individual man as in the case of Jeremiah, but a class. The members of this class are, like the prophet-priest Jeremiah, wholly dedicated to Jehovah God through Christ and, by the begettal of Jehovah's holy spirit, they have been made part of "a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for special possession."

    Hey Mr OfJah

You are 100% right on that a prophets job is not just to tell the future, but when they call themselves a prophet (ref: scully) and then act like one, (1914, 25, 75, 94, 2001) and they dont come true, that is a false prophet.

By what you say, there is no such thing as a false prophet, because all you have to do is deny the seer aspect of the job. Then you can make predictions all day and not be guilty of false prophecy.

I guess that 1982 quotes lets you off the hook, Sword of Jah. It claims that only Anointed Christians? qualify to be counted as being part of the Prophet Class?.

Which kinda sucks for you... 6 million JWs doing billions and billions of hours of preaching the words of the Prophet Class? (which numbers around 8500) - typical though... humble, non-anointed JWs do all the preaching grunt-work, and the WTS (which denies being a prophet) gets to claim the Prophet Class? status.

Scully: Your postings prove my point if you read closely.

IP_SEC: On the dates you post, where the brothers not interpreting scriptures, erronously I agree, but they were not providing a "new" prophesy. For example 1914, sure they did not know exactly what was to happen, they assumed some things, but they were reading scriptures, analyzing, calculating and knew something special would happen in 1914.

Scully: Referring to this comment "typical though... humble, non-anointed JWs do all the preaching grunt-work, and the WTS (which denies being a prophet) gets to claim the Prophet Class? status.", I would like to say that you are bing a bit close-minded. Sure, the "other sheep" outnumber the "annointed" in 2005. But when you read the history of the organization in individual countries (yearbooks), who where those brothers in the early 20th century doing the preaching work. Going into inhospitable areas and reaching many with their message. They were the annointed, so don't overlook the hard work they put in. I am proud of helping out the "annointed" with the preaching work.

If it can be proved the GB of JW's is Not a False Prophet in 50 words or less I will grovel at their feet and beg them to let me back in.

I understand your longing to return to the blindness of the organization, where our futures were pre-planned and we knew for certainty what the future would bring. I know your feelings of lonliness and despair since leaving such a loving group of true followers of Paul, and how much you miss hearing their healing words of wisdom during lifes challenging phases. I sometimes hear them now, "pray more, you'll get over it," or "don't tell the police that your husband is hurting you or you'll bring reproach on Jehovahs people," and especially their sound medical advice such as how immunizations were so evil. Thank God I listened to that one! Lost a few kids, but, hey! I was faithful to Jah and will get them back plus more in the new system since I was faithful like Job, so it really does not matter. <Sigh> And who could possibly forget everything we went through in 1975! What a wonderful honor it was to be able to be called a freak and a false prophet myself in Jehovahs name when I witnessed to my entire highschool class about the impending disaster to be hitting in the fall of that year at the urging of the CO. I even had the priviledge of giving the experience at a Circuit Assembly, even though I am a lowly woman, and not worthy of going to Bethel. Such an honor. I was even more thrilled to find that the Society had just been teasing about 1975 and that it was a test to see who would stay when they told us we'd made a mistake! They are so smart! Surely they are prophets of God. I never was taught to actually think so somethings are a little confusing like, how come our brothers and sisters died in Malawi because the society told them they could not buy a political party card, but it was necessary for the Society to join the UN for 10 years? Or like why is it okay for the elders in my congregation to drink a 12 pack each evening, but if they catch a teenager with a joint they are expelled? Oh, well. Guess I'll just have to wait on Jehovah. I think though, that the clincher is the practice of disfellowshipping people over any little infraction. What a loving provision and truely only prophets could come up with something like this. Jesus teachings of love and forgiveness were surely too tame for any real prophet so the GB in their wisdom gravitated toward the teachings of the religious lawyer who hated women. Paul was despicable in appearance so he probably did not get laid too often which explains the sexual frustration, but his teachings were surely more worthy than those of Jesus and the GB saw this! How could they not be prophets? Well, gotta go now. I need to beat myself with a cat-o-nine-tails for a few hours before I drink the cool aide. It goes down better if you're in pain at the time. Yes, so all you prove that they cannot correctly interpret the scriptures. The record is pretty sad for Gods sole channel of communication. The really sad thing is that they are still doing it. 1914 is based on the baseless 607 destruction of Jerusalem. So in light of clear proof that 607 is wrong, they contiue to teach it.

They call themselves a prophet, so when they mislead ppl with a misinterpretation of text, it is a false prophecy. Dont matter if its a new or old prophecy. God word is inspired, so when you proclaim a false fulfillment of that word under the supposed direction of the Holy Spirit, you are guilty of speaking a false prophecy.

So again, under your rules for a prophet, the Society can never be wrong.
