Duet. 11: 21 And if thou say in thine heart, How shall we know the word which the LORD hath not spoken? 22 When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him.

Sword of Jah:
"There are many aspects to the work of a Prophet: It could be to prophesy, but it could also be to spread Jehovah's message. The quote you posted says the "Prophet" refers to "they are known as Jehovah's Christian witnesses". I am one of Jehovah's Witnesses and I certainly do not prophesy, but I do preach the good news."PinTail:The Governing Body claims to be also a Prophet in these last days to the rank and file it is concerning this I write the following reasoning:
Sword:
"IDENTIFYING THE "PROPHET" Watchtower April 1 1997
These questions can be answered in the affirmative. Who is this prophet? ... This "prophet" was not one man, but was a body of men and women. It was the small group of footstep followers of Jesus Christ, known at that time as International Bible Students. Today they are known as Jehovah's Christian witnesses. ... Of course, it is easy to say that this group acts as a "prophet" of God. It is another thing to prove it. The only way that this can be done is to review the record."
Pinail:
One must also define a prophet in accepted terms that are untarnished by the spin of Jehovah's Witness's that they use so affectively to protect their influence on their rank and file.
Many times the Witness seek to subtly insult the intelligence of the rank and file by dissecting words into meaning to fit their own devices and goals.
Sword you belong to a religion that says out right," that they are as group ARE a prophet. If I told you that I and my friends were as a group acceptable in Jehovah's eyes as being called a prophet but I could not prove it by my history or by the scriptures but only by the way I interpret, the subject of being a prophet, would you honestly really believe me, and feel closer to Jehovah by serving our God under the control or direct influence of me. This is not a matter of having lack a of faith in Jehovah at all, it is "making sure of all things holding fast to what is true" and being reasonable. You know what the truth is concerning this. Let it be known that the I do believe the Bible Students in those early days {were for the most part} teaching a reasonable truth some of what the taught was a little off base but they did not and still don't claim to be a prophet at that time or now, and they are much more reasonable with them self's and the the flock of brothers and sisters than the witness's are now, and they still are; because of this I do respect them and find them much more Christ like in matters of tretment of the sheep which tells you a lot.Shane
