I do not know if all of you on this thread realize how impressive you really are.
Of all of you only one or two had a small thread of connection with his family member.
The effort and encouragement was put out by all of you and contact was made to a relative of his
and all turned out right. At least that is how it seems for now.
How many groups do you know, that would put this much concern and energy into the search?
Not many and surely not the wbts or most jw congregations. I think their thought process would be roughly, "see this is what happens to those who leave the org" and that would be it.
His sister and his family should be thoroughly impressed by the concern you all demonstrated.
If only we could cause many of the jw's to see this and the REAL love and concern for our fellow man.
No one was concerned about his standing or efforts or beliefs. All the concern was for his well being and safety.
This is REAL love, displayed at its best.

I might be wrong, but I am willing to bet that you had no real idea what an impact your words were going to make here, having, perhaps, come to feel isolated, insignificant and unheard through the years (although not in regards to your wife, I am sure).
Even after finding a place like JWD where you do matter and people do listen and care, this kind of conditioning doesn't just fade away that quickly or easily. It takes time and lots of positive reinforcement. I know. I'm there.
