Does anyone here understand what I'm talking about? Anyone else had problems with real tragedy as entertainment/news?

It's much different seeing blood and gore on the tv when you know it's fake (although I don't like that either) but when you're seeing something real, I know what you mean. It would have made my stomach turn too. It's like the difference between seeing movies on tidal waves and then seeing real live footage of the tsunami victims..it's heart wrenching.

Sorry you had to see that

I've seen some of these clips online it really makes you wonder how sick people are... This of course is nothing new (dispite what the WBTS would have us believe) think of the roman gladiators the spanish inquisition, thousands upon thousands of public executions! Witch burnings, Joan of Arc, lynchings, pressing, the rack, even modern Tv and film is full of violence and bloodshed! The bottom line is that a large segment of the public is disturbed!

It is just a way to separate ourselves from the tragedy.

Well said rwagoner ... it would resume the whole thing somehow.

Both my Uncle and my Grandfather committed suicide back in the 80's. They both used the same gun, but were about 7 years apart.

My grandfather had a revolver that he kept on top of a filing cabinet for protection in the office of his restaurant for the times when he had to take the money to the bank at the end of the day, and in case a robber ever tried to break in. My uncle used that gun on himself right in front of his wife. His daughter had entered the room just as he pulled the trigger. It was the most horrible thing our family had ever gone through. My mom and grandmother were actually on their way from AZ to FL when my dad got the call from my grandfather that my uncle had done it. When my mom and grandmother got there, my grandfather had to tell them both what had happend. My mom spent 2 days trying to clean up the mess. My uncle had lost almost all of the blood in his body by the time the paramedics got there. He was troubled and drug addicted and messed up, but we loved him and I often dream about him being alive.

My grandfather was the same way, he died because he missed his son and couldn't handle life anymore. He shot himself the same exact way that this man did. I loved my grandpa very much. He and I had a connection that no one else had because we had both been adopted and he always told me I was his special girl (this is NOT the grandfather who molested me, this is the non JW good one that I loved to pieces and still cry about today).

One solace that always got me through the dark days after they both passed was the knowledge that I'd get to see them alive again someday. I still hold onto that because I miss them terribly.

Brooke touched on it a bit in her last post. I was told not to fear death because it might happen in the "great tribulation" but I didn't look forward to it and I didn't like the idea of having to watch "worldly" people die when the system ended...or having to clean it up...

Yep, this is something we were always told, that we'd probably have to go out and clean up all the dead bodies. On top of this. My mom was anointed, so not only did I fear the dead bodies outside, but that my mom's body would be inside with us!

Oh my lord! I just had a huge revelation sitting here. I have always been afraid of death, I don't like funerals, I don't like to talk about death, and now I know why! I suffered horribly with the knowledge that I'd have to bury my mother because she was going to drop dead in front of us when armageddon came cuz God was going to take her to heaven then. Oh my, this is a big understanding. I've got to go call my hubby! Wow!

I really want to play devil's advocate here for a second... but I won't, because I know it will just piss people off.

The people that just watch this stuff for entertainment, to laugh at... I agree it is sickening. But that isn't the only reason why people watch these things sometimes.

    I agree FMZ.

I guess the reason I posted in the first place (although I didn't state it) is that I'm not sure where the line is. I really don't want to be someone who talks about banning anything. Maybe part of the shock was that I was unprepaired for it...then that a guy would subject something like that to innocent people. And then that people actually get off and watching that stuff.

.....I don't know where the line is and that's part of the problem I have with it I guess.

I agree, it was a selfish act that the man carried out, very selfish. But one needs to realize that when at the point where you are going to kill yourself, up is down and black is white. It's a form of insanity IMHO.

Unfortunately I think you just happened upon the site of some jackass who thinks it is funny to show this sad and disturbing event to unsuspecting visitors. And, with the free flow of information on the internet, I don't believe that a line can be drawn, and even if it was, it would be impossible to enforce.

I would that a person do this rather than killing a bunch of other people then saving the last bullet for himself. Of course, offing oneself is pretty self defeating solution to problems,
