Why no Crisis of Conscience eBook pdf version?

  There has to be a lot of fading or questioning JW out there that want to read this book but are afraid of getting the hard copy because of fears of getting caught, mailing issues, etc.

  I think if this were available as an eBook, so many more ppl would be able to read it. It would make it so much easier for those who want to take a look at this discreetly and take the leap. As far as I know, there isn't one available. Don't you think it would be a good idea for Ray Franz to get this out in pdf format?

  That's prob the reason - I wish I had it in that format so that I could print out some key parts to show old friends - without it being clear where it came from - but alas.....

  Then again, there are E-books that charge to view their books on the internet....so, if the book could be made available on the net, any profit would not be lost then.

  Actually, with printing costs, labor, and price of materials going up, it may actually be lucrative, and generate a higher profit...

  If profits are what's keeping him from doing it, how about using the voluntary donation arrangement? The exposure will be much greater and he may even receive more financial support than right now? I feel that it's such a powerful piece of work and it appears that more and more ppl in the org secretly want to look into it but are afraid of getting caught and snitched on.

  ohiocowboy - that is a good idea. E-books can be copied though can't they? It might get ripped that way. Or am I wrong on that? Not to literate on some of those things

  You know the majority of us have read CofC.. It is worth every penny and for all the Ray went through, I think his story deserves to have every penny it can.. the man gave up a chance of a career for the WTS.. can we at least let him have profits from his story?

  If someone has the patience to scan every page, it can be done. However, I'm not sure of the legal ramifications. I think the best route would be to contact Franz himself and suggest it to him. Does anyone here know him personally? Maybe it's worth a shot to suggest this to him?

  Absolutely! Mind freeing information is a good thing!

  I think the simple act of getting this to pdf format would be HUGE in accelerating the exposure of the WTS.

  I'm sure something of a financial nature can be worked out for our dear Br. Franz to compensate for any monetary losses, if any at all.

  Besides, I'm sure his main motive for writing this book was to tell the truth to as many ppl as possible and any $$ resulting from this was considered a bonus.

  Raymond Franz makes no profit on these books. So far as I know, he barely even breaks even. Self-publishing a book is expensive, and one must order a minimum number of copies to get a printer to print them, which must be stored somewhere until they're bought. This, above and beyond the initial charges just to get the book ready to print. I know, for example, that Commentary Press has on hand several thousand copies of the excellent book by Carl Olof Jonsson, The Sign of the Last Days: When? (people interested in a thorough debunking of the Society's "composite sign of the last days beginning in 1914" doctrine really need to buy this book).

  Since he doesn't make a profit anyways, I'm sure he wouldn't mind a free pdf version distributed via the internet. In fact, he may even encourage it.
