Just don't point out the African American Race there are others that are judged today

I hear ya Brooke. It certainly happens to others as well. The young man in my experience happened to be African American. I have seen it happen to plenty of Mexican Americans as well. I have never had it happen to me though. The most I have had happen to me is having someone of another race be rude to me for no apparent reason. While, I prefer to assume he/she is just having a bad day I do sometimes wonder if it is based on racial prejudice.

Josie, I now understand how you could misinterpret me when I said:

(or go back to Africa, when you think you belong there cos that is your heritage)

That words did have a huge loading for you. but:

(or go back to Africa, when you think you belong there cos that is your heritage)

is the other way around - it is and was not a way to say: take your things and get the hell out of here, (which you obviously thought) but, when you don't want to be here, by all means go were you want to be, but don't accuse me for your being here (for he came to our country in free choice)

There is a huge difference in the treatment of blackpeople here and in the States. Obviously your situation there is still not "Optimum" Your ancestors were never "guests" in your country - you're ancestors were forced to go and stay there - and I am sorry for that.

I leave it to this and go have some jelly (strawberry) for myself - needs some sweetness too.

I hear ya Brooke but understand this is what i know intimately, so how can I help but not point it out? But on the other hand I do have a low tolerance for racism directed towards anyone of any race.

Well to add to this....I have to point out something. They were forced to be in this country yes...However, many of them were sold by their own people! Never forget the whole story of it's History!

I am not saying anyone is pointing out one race. I just don't want to leave anyone out.

I just read this thread and in my opinion country woman was not at all being racist. There is a distinct diffirence between you as a person having a bad or traumatic expirience and then being told to stop rehashing it and move on. The whole slavery issue is not a move on issue, as you MrsJ did not expirience the slavery yourself, what occured in those times was cruel and without justification of any kind, but it did not happen to you specifically so it's a very diffirent circumstance than your originally intented post.

well to put my two sense on the selling of africans by africans to those not african - yes it happened. It was all wrong. but i seem to remember that quite recently a few of those african nations have apologized for what their forefathers did. I'd have to look that up. the usa has yet to do so even though there are some black groups that want them too. i personally dont think that this will happen anytime soon and really dont see how it would make a difference. so yeah i know quite a bit about the african diaspora to the americas - it's not pretty and there were many people to blame black and white.

Well I for one will apologize on behalf of what happened!

Even though I had nothing to do with it....however as a US Citizen I am sorry that it happened!

There are alot of History that goes back before our time that none of it was right. None of it. Even today it happens!

So Educate and Stop the Hate!
