mrs jones..i wonder if i could point out to you that your posts are in big black bold lettering which makes it appear as if you are shouting at us and therefore might have an effect on how we read what you are saying....you didnt start off with that this morning...could it possibly be adjusted back

    dragonlady,

no it was not a "move on" issue. I think you need to read all of the posts again. I have no problem with CW, her post just brought out something that i currently live with everyday.

it is not a move on issue.

if someone is gonna act racist towards me and mine not because of something i did just because of the color of my skin how can i move on from that? i can ignore it but how do i protect my kids other than telling then they are more that just niggers? i cant protect my kids forever.

how would you feel if someone treated your little kids that way? do you know how to tell a child that the reason why you cant play with johnny down the street is cuz his parents dont like black folks?

tell me how do you move on from what you cant control other that trying to be the best person you can be?

    Josie

P.S. i've been on the internet a long time and i do know that all caps is shouting. if you look closely this is lower case. i have seen bigger fonts than this on this board and no i am not a loud black person, if you ever meet me you will be surprised at how quiet i really am.

I have often thought about the above sentiment but from the standpoint of a parent who has a child with disabilities or a malformation of some kind. People can be cruel in many different circumstances and I for one am sorry for those who have to bear the brunt of it more than others do. All I can do as an idividual is try my hardest to raise my children to be loving and accepting of all. The issue of prejudice (be it religious, racial, physical, gender, etc.) is not a move on issue because it still exists in our lives. Unfortunately, some seem to be contronted with it more than others. It's not like leaving the WT. It surrounds us. As Brooke said we must educate and we each must do our part.

Well since my Italian ancestors were not in the country yet when slavery was in effect, I can't apologize for that, but as an American, I can apologize on behalf of the country I was born into for its history. Although I would also need to apologize to 1/8th of my body because I have Choktaw native american in me and as I have learned, it was a tribe that consisted a lot of runaway and free slaves. The problem is, I look too damn white (especially in the winter) but my dark curly hair saves me a little in that department. Ok so thats two oppressed sides of me (oh and don't forget I am female and we have been shat on far longer than blacks/jews/etc. ever were), native american and black....but the fact that Italians had Mousselini (sp?) and well...we all know how that went I am just one mixed-ethinicy chick!

Has the US apologized to the genocide of 10's of millions of native americans up until the 1970's (forced sterilizations)???
