q]Seeker: WTS is not the true religion. I know that, duh. The question is: who are Jehovah's people? I believe the Witnesses are[/q]
Does anyone else find this just a little illogical?

when my wife read it she called me down stairs to read it as well

as we were talking it merely hilights the double think double speak that is required for a person to be a jw

Dedalus quotes directly from the WT:

We resolve that we shall obey all instruction received from the Watch Tower, knowing that such proceed from the higher powers, Jehovah God and Christ Jesus. We resolve to be completely obedient to the Society as the visible part of the Great Theocracy. -- Watchtower 2/1/40 p. 47.

If we have love for Jehovah and for the organization of his people we shall not be suspicious, but shall, as the Bible says, ‘believe all things,’ all the things that The Watchtower brings out. -- Qualified To Be Ministers 1955, 1967, p. 156.

Jehovah's organization as directed by his 'faithful and discreet slave' class should influence our every decision also. How may we avail ourselves of this good influence? By doing personal research in the Bible publications of the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society on whatever subject our decision concerns. This always proves to be a real aid in making clear to us the Bible principles involved and their application to our lives." -- Watchtower 10/15/98.

excellent post- as this post indicates the net will prove to be a serious problem for the wt- to me it is very clear why the wt tells folks like this guy to stay off the net

you see they know that the boat has holes in the bottom and so they don't go out into the water on to see thier boat sink- so uninformed jw like the guy here ventures out into the boat that wt has provided only to find out it has holes in it -

now this guy had no idea that the worst enemy of wt is it's on Paper trail - so he marches out here and states so proudly that THE WATCHTOWER IS NOT THE TRUE RELIGION having no idea that the wt has stated that he must accept everything they tell him by means of what is published by the WT

so the kicker is we have all these lurker and NONJW who will read his post and then turn around and be shown the OFFICIAL POSITION on the matter from the WT itself- so he now stands before the whole WWW looking silly- and why cause he has failed to do his research to see what did the Society say on this matter or that- as i have said so many times you can't help but feel sorry for the poor guy

It is as if he came out yelling my mommy ain't selling her "Coochie" and then all of a sudden he is presented with his own mommy on video tape telling folks how Good her "Coochie" is the the going rate for the day

    so sad

    Flip,

Your qualifications to my statements are noted, but I fail to see why you're making them when I'm talking about the Organization's view of what a Witness should be. Another JW doctrine is that those who disbelieve but put on the appearance of believing are leading double lives, and hence are not good Witnesses.

    flip says

To be a Jehovah’s Witness = one must act as if they believe everything that the publishing company publishes.

Just what an associate of the WTBTS Corporation believes is redundant because it’s impossible for “management” to verify, in spite of what is published.

The reality is, how one performs for the Corporation is the only visible measure of Jehovah’s Witnesses as the degree of their subjection to the Corporation.

Belief, if at all, is the last thing actually on the mind of a Jehovah’s Witness, appearance is the first and the WTBTS has designed the two concepts to be used interchangeably.

now you have hit the nail on the head

case in point - the wt has given jw like this dude very clear instructions and scriptures to support it as to why he SHOULD NOT BE UP HERE IN THIS FORUM -- yet he goes to the hall and pretends that at night he is home reading his latest mag when in fact he is hangingout with DF da and apostates- but of course since no one sees him - he feels he is OK

you could not have put it any better

    thanks and a great post

Godrules has a right to speak his mind.

The net is no more dangerous than the printed word was when it first became popular, or radio, or movies, or originally free speech. I think any form of communication will get people thinking. Except WWF. Dare we put the controll of information in the hands of one group of persons?

Godrules, who did you dedicate your life to? Jehovah or his organization?

I was baptized before the 1985 change. I'm still looking to find the scriptural support for this. New converts are now Baptized in the Father, the Son and the spirit-directed organization. That started me looking elsewhere.

The first question is: On the basis of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, have you repented of your sins and dedicated yourself to Jehovah to do his will? The second is: Do you understand that your dedication and baptism identify you as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in association with God’s spirit-directed organization? (Watchtower 6/1/85, pg. 30)

If anybody is having trouble trying to discern the difference between the "publishing company" ie the Watchtower and "Jehovah's people" presumably the faithful and discreet slave here's a simple test.

Go to the KH on Sunday. About half way through the WT study stick your hand up and when called on say something like "This is a load of crap written by some failed janitor at Bethel not the faithful and discreet slave."

I've got money says you're DF before lunch.

    Hello Seeker,

    thanks for the post.
It is true and I do agree with your words:

"They'll get more information than they know what to do with and far more information than the WTS wants them to have. We are now seeing a perfect example of this in operation right before our eyes.

The WTS is in trouble because of the free flow of information."

Also , as was commented in another post, every PROSPECTIVE
BIBLE STUDENT SHOULD KNOW that, as long as you're a "student"
you can ask ALL the questions that you wish...but after the
baptism as " a dedicated Jehovah's witness .." the STORY
    C H A N G E S completely! Ask around...!

    Greetings, J.C.MacHislopp

    Jeff,

They wouldn't do it then, but within 2 weeks you'd be gone. You know, so they have time to see if you're truly repentent. ahahahahahahahahaha
