    HillBilly,

The US did what they could with Lend Lease and ,a few (Eagle Squadron, etc) contributed as individuals... as history tells the US was a little late getting into WWI too...but we came.

Of course, it did not help that the US had an ambassador in Germany from the late 30's who openly sympathized with the Nazi's and openly sympathized with their destruction of European Jews. In all fairness he was eventually recalled when England put pressure on the US to do so. Ironic that one of his sons went on to become a President in the US and after the Harvard historians finished with him became a legend in fantasy.

Selective history is a bane of all world powers, but as ever the Americans perfected the process and actually rely on it in its electoral process.

    HS-

Your speaking of that bootlegger ,Joe Kennedy? Really, now..we know all about him and how he bought the election for his boy. If you think all Americans buy into "Camelot" you are sadly mistaken my freind.

Chamberlain was a real stand up guy too.... Really, WWII was the result of a lot of bad calls by everyone who should have been worried about Hitler..........

"British sterotyping"? Sorry old pal... so Camilla is "Godzilla"? I didnt catch that on BBC ...........

It's great, these threads where we bash our allies and friends in other countries reminds me of when I got to shun people in my congregation because they weren't loyal enough to my cause...

    *OOPS!*

...did I just say that?....oh well....

When a British schoolboy was unable to remove a vase that was stuck on his head, he was rushed to the hospital on a city bus. According to reports, in an attempt to make the boy look more normal to the other passengers, his mother placed his school cap on top of the vase...

    Brummie....need we say more?

Hmm not certain i can agree with that. With the stroke of a pen Czechoslovakia was sold out,in no small part by Chamberlain himself.Maybe he desperately wanted to avoid the similar carnage of WW1, though cant blame him for that, but im still glad he vacated the seat of PM in favour of Winnie!

    Hill,

Yes, I am talking about Joe Kennedy, an open sympathizer with the Nazi's and a rather vigorous opponent of Jewry who was, between bedding every woman who passed him by, appointed as ambassador to Germany by the US in the late 30's.

I notice that you had little to say on this matter at least.....lol

As you do not seem to me to be the iconoclastic sort who actually sees the truth until it is pointed out to them by others, I hazard a guess that you actually *did* buy into "Camelot" together with most of the US and it has to be said the rest of the world, until of course British historians publicized ( much to the chagrin of many US ) the true and rather dubious history of John Kennedy a couple of decades ago.

HS...actually my granddad was a geat observer of the Irish-American scene circa 1920 till the 70's when he past. He had a lot of counter-popular opinions about the Kennedy Clan... Those British journalists only reinforced the stories I had heard as a boy.

Preston... No bashing here...actually I have learned much about the British political climate and culture.... excuse my rough ways... I like to have a bit of fun as I learn.

Brummie....tough attitude for a cat with a bow tie, brother.

It must be noted the Anti- Semitism (and I like Jews for the record, I am related to a few) was about as prevelant as beans and bacon back in the early 20th century... If you thought Joe K was a breath of fresh air read some of the old Ford company newletters from the 20's and 30's... Henry was about as big a Jew Hater as you could get.... and from what I've read just about all the big money industrialist-tycoon types were not to wild about Jews either.

That brings us to a question often avoided...Just what what GB thinking when they turned those Jews away in '47 and gave Palestine to them... seems like no body every sees that move as one of the great "oh sh*ts!" in history.

I only said one simple line and you replied to it in three posts, I feel so honoured. Now, what was you saying about the need to have a thick skin again? or does that only apply to the British?
