I like it when a thread takes a life of it's own LT.... I never get 4 pages out of anything I start.
So....I take it that you are not enamored with the British gun laws? Claymores and dirks are nice... but a nice Colt is better in my humble opinion.

Totally pissed, to be honest. I can brandish a Sgian Dubh, or a bread knife, but the regulations are too onerous to possess a firearm, even out in rurals.
You can own an antique, as long as you don't have it on display, and one rural farmer got sent to jail for shooting an intruder on his property - go figure!
