Thank you for quoting this scripture. If you live the entire life of a witness, and don't twag off on the side, then the yoke is not kindly and your load is not light. The only ones that can refute this are the ones not living the life of a witness.

You know, sometimes my husband says to me, "You have an answer for everything. That drives me nuts. Have you ever stopped to think of this possibility? Sometimes there is no answer or your answer is wrong." Now I know where I got my training from.

Sunspot --- I think the question more aptly put should be , " How many of you would do something the society would disapprove of?" According to them they are jehovah . Or did they change that this week ? Good God I can't believe the way they just up and change crap one minute to the next . We know that most members would probly just take the time to spend with friends and family maybe suck up some suds , I don't think most would go out and murder or rob a bank . On account the society is so friggen petty they would come up with something to condemn you with ................

I can honestly say now that, since escaping the WTBS emotional stronghold in 1995, with everyday that goes by I live a happier and more meaningful life.

I have real feelings for all kinds of people, not only JWs as I was trained since childhood.

It's just wonderful living without being so judgemental of every single thing and everybody.

To be honest , I have heard this type of argument before, but i do not think it has been written down. It usually goes something like:-

"But why are they superficially happier? The pressure is off, they have time to be indulgent, but how long would that last? Of course we would like to 'rest up' brothers but dont let Satan overeach us with the power of twisted reasoning that appeals to our fleshly side. We must 'Exert ourselves vigourously if we would win life's prize' etc etc "

It is scary how I can still roll out that cliche ridden stuff...

BTW . I AM happier now that I am off that treadmill... i mean, life is what you make it, but if the alternative to being here is the Tuesday group study, I mean - no contest...

I would have to say the WTBTS needs to take that to heart .They continue to go beyond what is written , they've done it so much they can't even tell when they do it . But ohhhhhhhh no , the brother that likes porn or the sister that likes to wear jeans are the big threat to mortality . geeeeeeeeeeeesh give me a friggen break .............

I agree with Doubtfully Yours, as far as my attitude toward other people has changed. Now I can be friends with someone regardless of their religious beliefs, or help someone in need or do whatever I want and I can put money in a charity box at the grocery store to help feed the poor.

I am definitely happier realizing I won't be wasting away into an old JW woman--instead I can be happy being me and not some religious robot.

This "sin" thing.............quite often as an Apostate when I used to post on Beliefnet and ARJW, the JWs would sneer and scoff and lump everything together (all what I would say in trying to prove the WTS wrong), and saying that I was disgusting in Jehovah's eyes, because I wouldn't live up to my vows, yadayada.

I can't speak for anyone other than myself, but most of you know that "running rampant" wasn't the reason that I left the WTS. Folks my age don't usually leave to wallow in a life of sex, drugs and rock and roll! But I have been accused of that very thing!

It used to make me so angry when some dork would feel so presumptuous of what I was all about and come out with that. Naturally, it's the WTS' view (people never leave because it has been proven to them that the WTS is an evil cult) that those who leave are only doing so to chase the wind, etc. Everyone is labelled as a lowlife.

But remember.... all that crap only applies to the "annointed".... so we're all off the hook.

I secretly used to wonder why WE had to sit through hours of talks, and study the same old stuff year in and year out----if it didn't actually apply to us in the first place! Funny how ther seldom told us what DID apply by association, or what applied to only the annointed! Round and round we go......
