I secretly used to wonder why WE had to sit through hours of talks, and study the same old stuff year in and year out----if it didn't actually apply to us in the first place! Funny how ther seldom told us what DID apply by association, or what applied to only the annointed! Round and round we go......

    Yeah!

The roller coaster ride of remaining a jw for very long...conditions you for the long haul. Thats exactly why there are so many zombie like jdubs walking around in a daze of spiritual depression.

They talk out loud about the 'happiness of being dedicated to Jehovah' yet physically and emotionally they are exhausted by the effort.

It's my belief that the bible message was written for all mankind not just those with holy spirit , it's pretty clear that the great crowd have an equal share in the preaching and converting work . The WTBTS has been pulling the old anointed card on it's members for a long time and where has it gotten them ? Their doctrine is still a mess, it's about impossible to believe that these people that call themselves the FDS are in fact delivering the food at the proper time .

The article said that, "Satan is making it increasingly difficult for us to worship Jehovah today."

I have to agree with them. The Society is making it increasingly difficult to worship God.

    LMAO!!!!!!!!!

    I love your commentary there,,,,,,,perfect,,,,hehe.

the pot is boiling down. the only ones who can possibly remain are:

    1. mentally ill, can't help it
    2. elderly with no other social connections, no other choice
    3. the "trapped" ones, who don't want to lose their family ties
    4. the bullies who love herding them all around

that is how i see it, and I know people in each situation. can't think of a witness i know who isn't in one of those classes, my family included. sad.

He then proceeded to say that the big stone which was going to strike "the image", the one representing the world powers, is already in mid air and right near the feet of the image. It's just about to strike. Which means, we are deep brothers, deep in the time of the end.

    Hi everyone

I just joined after reading the posts on this board for a while.

I have a friend of many years who has been a jw for a long time and she has always been the pessimistic type and is now suffering from depression - I don't see any signs of happiness or hope whatsoever - is this due to the religion training people to look for the bad things in life?

    Hello clarrie, and welcome.

Yes, the depressed JW syndrome is quite common, and although it may be difficult to pin down the exact cause scientifically (e.g., does the JW religion depress people, or do depressed people tend to become JWs?), in any case there is a strong correlation between JWs and negativity and depression.

I hope you find the discussion board to be worthwhile and enlightening!

Trudy, you've got it in a nutshell... A talk telling people that those wicked ones who leave are "happy" because they no longer need to struggle to be a witness is very twisted reasoning. So now being happy = being wicked. Now those JWs who are at all happy will be questioning themselves--is something wrong with me because I am not stuggling and miserable? The WT continues on with its crazy making. cybs
