My mom as well as a few others are "hooked up by phone" to the meetings. Lately, the elders are saying in their talks that if a brother or sister COULD be at the meetings but instead are "hooked up", then they are hurting Jehovah by not having regular association with the "friends" at the Kingdom Hall.
Now Elders Are Making Elderly & Infirm Feel Guilty For "Being Hooked Up"!

So elders have a medical doctor's degree and make physical examinations. Oh, that's right they can read minds but not hearts.
I can remember a sister who had been in a car accident and was recuperating in a transitional facility between hospital and home. One elder insisted she could go to the meetings and even showed up to take her unannounced. The medical staff chased him out and banned him and all JWs from entry. He told the other elders that he had seen her and she was able to be wheeled around in a chair so should be able to go to the meetings. The administrator in the facility knew a JW on the HLC and called him and reamed him out about this brother's actions. That put the HLC's PR efforts back about 5 years. And the elder, still "shepherding" to this day.

Not according to the jws in the yahoo chatroom. They are getting plenty of association there. Why go to a kh when you can just log on? Maybe you could hook your mom up to yahoo chat!
