Doog,
I think looking at porn has been the first step many of us make, and then looking at apostate sites soon follows. Did you get progamed while surfing the net at bethel?

LOL. i never looked at 'apostate' stuff while i was at bethel, i was too busy.
i definitely started to leave the org while i was out there and i would've been more than receptive to this site and others (towards the end, i wasn't going to meetings or out in service, as odd as that may sound). i just never bothered to look for apostate stuff.
Doog,
Thanks for the imput. I'm just now thinking how all these warning about the internet go unheeded by bethelites and even makes them more curious. I bet they go kind of easy on the warnings at bethel so as not to stir up any undue curiousity.
CYP,
I like some of your ideas. You should start a separate thread to discuss it more fully.

that;s probably a good idea, but nah...they don't go easier on the warnings out there. they lay the evil internet warnings on ya and then an extra helping of "big brother is watching" to keep you in line.
Doog,
I was in bethel back in the 70's and I was suprised at some of the comments young bethelites my age made about the GB, they made fun of them being old and not with it. Did any do that while you were there?
One thing I worry about alot is that perhaps someone from a country where revenge killings are considered normal, that the internet is getting them deproggramed from the JWs and they had lost family members because of the edicts of the GB. To that type of person the GB need to be ever watchful,,those type of people carry a venda like a god to worship, to which cunning and hardship pose no obstical just another way to show thier devotion. I don't think people in the usa are as much a threat as some of these african countries like where they had all the masquers over each side getting even. There are a lots of countries like that. We haven't shed our biblically savage ways yet. Enlightenment is comming and we are learning more and more,,, we see clearly more and more easily the wrong. So I think this enlightenment is spreading and so will savage ways will die down until it is viewed as a nerousis of unfortunate people. Nobody in government that is savagelike because nobody would vote him in.
I remeber reading a post a while back where someone said the WT was always having to debug thier computors because there were so many brothers going to porn sites and getting viruses and stuff like that any body remember that post or can say wether this is true. (Boy I would hate to be a brother going to a porn site and then seeing the coast was clear wipe it out and start pumping and all of a sudden his Overseer walks in.)
So if that is the case,, members of the GB, should be,,, very very very concerned, because if you can't stop them from committing what you would define as a very serious sin and perhaps very close to apostacy itself,, at least in the official stand you have taken in it,, and you have warned about porn perhaps to same degree as warning not to listening to appostates. They are all doing both and you can't stop them!!!!!
Frankie..
But how would they enforce a wireless ban?? don't seem very pratical to me. And it would make a lot of people suspicious
The statement that wireless access is not allowed at Bethel was made by a bethelite to my brother who lives in NY. He has a couple of bethelites stay at his house on weekends. How don't know how they would enforce the ban or even if they do enforce it, but according to this bethelite it is a rule.
I received an order from a Bethelite at 124 Columbia Heights and that was where he wanted the book mailed! I emailed him back about the snitches in the post dept. finding it and he said just don't make it obvious where it is from.
It got there, and he is not a newbie there, either! :-))
He LIKES the place as well!
