I remember watching the 2nd tower fall as it happened (on tv), and thinking for a split second, "Is this the big A? No, of course not! Armageddon is fiction. Besides, wars happen in other parts of the world every day; this is not different." So I passed the ultimate test of being deborgified. Of course, I had been out of the borg for a long time by then.

One of the talks was about how "since 9/11 things are different!"

sounds a lot like 1914. maybe jesus came again? people always die when jesus comes invisibly, according to wt-doctrine.

I had started my unsuccessful fade from the cult and just had a gut feeling that it was not the Watchtower Big A. I just felt very deep emotions about all the people who were in the middle of it and prayed some would survive the destruction. I got the feeling from hearing them talk that some of the dubs were disappointed it didn't turn into global destruction of all non-JW's.

Well take a close look at these two numbers and see how they correspond to bible prophecy. If you move the number "1" to behind the "9" in "1914" and then subtract the number "4" which symbolizes the 4 wild beasts in Daniel, then you're left with the date: "911". This means that Jesus actually returned on September 11th and cast Satan de Debbil down to the earth where he landed on the twin towers and caused their collapse. The only ones who could "discern" this, were the goobers sitting across the East River at Bethel watching it all happen in front of them. Who wants ta bet that this'll become a WT doctrine one day about 50 years down the road???

At least one JW (who used to PM me from time to time on Yahoo) thought that the 9/11 attacks were comparable to the armies encamped around Jerusalem in 66 AD. This, of course, proved that Armageddon had to come 3 1/2 years later in the spring of 2005...errr, wait a minute...oops...

But, hey, there's still a few weeks of spring left, right? (although 3 1/2 years from 9/11 would have been completed in March of this year...)

I was starting to fade at this point when I saw a brother street witnessing and decided to say 'hi'. He launched into a 'big one' about how significant it was. I dont believe for a minute it has any relevance to Armageddon tho. Just think that the 'organisation' likes to use things like that to make people fearful. It could be argued from a witness standpoint it is a 'sign of the times', but a bit foolish to make anything more of it.

    Tetrapod,

    Thanks for being so honest.

yes, it actually strengthened my faith, as sick as that sounds. i think the average wit has arnie-gedon fantasies that even out-do the imagery of that day. i know i did, and i'm not proud of it. at times i wonder if i was even as morally bankrupt as the fundies that flew the planes that day. :(
Don't feel bad. At the end of the day you're OUT and you have realised that error. I was astounded at the reaction of my JW relatives.... it was sort of like a secret happiness because the "signs" were being fulfilled. THing is, if I'd have been in the borg, I'd have reacted similarly. Sirona

My JW mum phoned me up crying, saying it was the start of Armageddon, ordering me to go straight to the kingdom hall.

A few weeks later she started crying again, saying she couldn't stop thinking of all those poor jehovahs witnesses that must have died in the tragedy, I just thought 'Oh, don't feel sad for all the other innocent people who died, just the JW'.

No I never thought that was the beginning of the big A

That was the the same month, over labor day weekend, I decided NO MORE MEETINGS. Then it happened. I did not want to go back and hear, is this the beginning? No it's not. I would have opened my big mouth and started. The fade is still working.

Ok- at the time, my father was working as an over the road (long distance) truck driver. He was actually coming home that day. When he got home- he jumped out of his rig, grabbed his duffle bag, and ran inside. He thought that this might've been a ploy by another country to declare war on America. HE was pulling guns out right and left. He pulled out stuff I've never seen before- and never seen since. He was worried ... If you want to know why watch the movie from the 80s called RED DAWN. As you well know, nothing happened.

There were several elder's wives and pioneers who thought that the falling of the towers was a fullfillment of the parable about building up storehouses (stor towers). They scared a lot of people in the cong with that....

ME- I just wanted to shoot someone.
