After I decided to leave I never worried about Armageddon, I left in 1974 right before the 1975 Armageddon scare. I thought whatever happpens will happen so why worry about it.

I was sitting in McDonalds when my brother came in and said a plane had crashed into the world trade center. I didn't think too much about it and when I got home I saw where another plane had crashed into the second tower. Some how it didn't bother me. I recorded it on my vcr but never thought too much about it.

The thought of the Armageddon starting never crossed my mind until I talked to my dub mom in the afternoon. She was declaring it was the start of the end of the world, and she wasn't listening to anything I had to say.

It made me conviced that Armageddon was just round the corner.

That feeling faded as the weeks turned int months and nothing happened.

But it didnt stop fading until I realised eveything JW was BS, so on a personal level it was good thing (obvously not good for a lot of other people.

Yes, I thought it was "finally" a sign of the end of time...boy, I feel ashamed about how I handled it. I was extremely scared but it was because I was thinking about the draft coming back and what Armeggedon would be like; I look back now and feel like someone in the Middle Ages who was afraid of witches & goblins. Fortunately, after 9/11 I really worked at studying my JW teachings and that eventually led to me getting out...

I had been out of the JWs for a couple of years at the time of 9/11, and though I did have momentary thoughts of 'Armagideon Time' when it happened, I was able to check myself by remembering that I thought it was 'peace and security' when the Berlin Wall came down, twelve years before that.

(and the 1986 UN 'Year of Peace', and the first Gulf War, and......)
