    Prophecor:

My Aunt used to have a saying. She said when you leave your house in the morning you don't know if you are going to put your key in the door again. Sad. But it makes me angry that I/we are put in danger over something we didn't cause and didn't want and had no say in. But I can't get into this.

    Soledad:

I believe you if you said you were there because I was not. Another story circulated by them is that afterwards they were at ground zero either witnessing or helping (I don't know which). Anecdotal stories can usually never be proven anyway so you have to take a person's word for it.

Witnessing, of course. I believe that, as a result, they had the dubious honour of being the only group asked to leave the site. I seem to remember that was in a newspaper article but I can't find the source right now.

I was told they were doing both. Sort of like "here's a cup of coffee along with the latest copy of our Watchtower magazine."

I didn't think it was Armageddon, but I do remember thinking to myself "Oh boy, I wonder if all the JW's are seeing this as a sign of the end." And of course I felt a lot of anger toward the people responsible--some of the anger is a helpless kind of feeling, because you can't punish the people who actually did the bombing when they're dead too.

I cried a lot for 2 weeks--I think it hit me harder than it would have because I was at the airport that morning and supposed to have been on a flight to LA. I worked for an emergency state agency at the time, so I had to go back to work immediately at 7:30 in the morning instead of going home like all most other people.

Everytime somethinmg happens that prompts people to think it is a sign of Armageddon, the more sure I am that it is not. In reality, if we believe th Bible and what it really teaches, then we should have no basis for believing something symbolically called Armageddon is near at all. It might be, but that is not what the Bible indicates.

I just remember thinking it was a terrorist attack even before the 2nd plane hit. I knew it would be horrible, but I never even started to think about Armageddon. I was still believing in everything the JWs teach, I just didn't really believe anymore that I would be around for Armageddon.

It seemed like the Witnesses loved it. It was a wake up call for all the weaker ones, and lots of people went to the meetings that week. Yeah, just that week. A couple years later, I found out everything about them, and I'm happy to not have to wonder about the Big A anymore.

i was in the 11th grade and was just coming back from vo-tech to english II. my teacher shuffled all of us into the library to watch the news. me and everyone else in there, (besides the teachers), had no idea what the trade center was....gotta love them little country schools. anyway...so my mother came and got me out of school early (rock!!! )...............to go out in service (suck!!! ) apparently our congo had pulled 2gether some sort of emergency action plan...the elders at the kh said that we needed to be busy in jehomah's work since we could hear armageddon coming right around the corner....he said we only had at the most a couple more months left. riiiiiiiiiight..........

so here we are in the new system and man am i glad that i went out in service that day instead of school...

lol....it honestly did kind of freak me out, b/c i just kept hearing ''WAR WAR WAR'' from the news and ''IT'S THE END OF THE WORLD'' from the dubs. but after a year....i calmed down.

    luv, kitty

Mary, you are too funny! I have been laughing ever since I read your thread. But to answer the question above, yes, I was terrified it was Armageddon. I was always afraid, sad and guilty when I thought of Armageddon. Not happy as most JW's are because the New System is coming. I always thought of the losses. I just knew I was going down; me and my family (because I didn't bring them into the truth). Thankfully, we are still here and I also did research through Free Minds and it set me free. This board keeps me free and sane.

yes, it actually strengthened my faith, as sick as that sounds

Ditto for me. I was terrified. I wrote in my diary a few days later, tearfully, that I was going to do better in the field ministry, to strengthen myself so I could be approved by God, and to help others too. Blech.
