The story about them locking the doors at bethel is not the story circulated at the hall so I don't know what the truth is. I am not calling anybody on this board a liar but what I have read here is directly opposite of what I heard there.

If you listen to anecdotal stories they made it sound like they were helping people that day.

I think it is a case of their word against the people who post on this board.

Even after 28 years away and redeveloping my spirituality (actually, developing a spirituality cuz I never had one in JW-dom) I still got a twinge about A when the towers fell and wondered "what's next?". I felt the same thing with the Gulf War when Iraq invaded Kuwait then the US got involved. Again, when Bush and his cabinet gave every excuse they could drum up for invading Iraq 2 years ago.

Mostly, I just had a difficult time comprehending what I was seeing on TV. I cried much of the time for those killed for the terror everyone felt and for the families.

edited to add: I cannot see pix of the towers burning or falling anymore. I have to turn away, and often with tears.

I know that this is gonna sound silly or something.....

But I was still living with the 'rents at the time, so my mom wakes me up, and says, "Hey, a bomb just went off in the WTC!" (mind you, this was before the second plane hit)

So I'm sitting there, not especially concerned, because as I remembered, not that many people died when it happend in '92 or whatever, and it was 4 days before my 18th birthday, and I had a college visit later that week that I had to shop for that day......

But I was like, "What the hell, I'm up now, I might as well see what's up."

That's when the second plane hit...

Right then i wasn't thinking about Jehovah, or armageddon, or anything like that.

Seeing something like that just overloaded my brain, and i totally regressed and lost connection with reality when I turned to my mom and said,

"Mom, where in the f*ck is spider-man?"

She looked at me and gently reminded me that, this in fact was real life and not some bad dream

and after seeing all the screwed up stuff that's happend over the last 4 years because of that, I'm not sure I believe her

I was inactive from the dubs at the time the planes hit. It was scary but I didn't think it was the beginning of armageddon or anything. I know there were dubs practically frothing at the mouth happy to have more 'proof' that we are living in the 'time of the end'. An elder happily told me that a circuit overseer noticed there were "plenty of pink song books (the old style) being seen at the meetings since 9-11". I guess some inactive people were getting scared that "the doors of the ark are closing"..

Oh yeah. I thought, "it's happening." And at the tms that night, that's what was discussed...that it was a sign of things to come thanks to satan. It left my ears open to be brainwashed even more. I was more scared of the big A then before.

We were scared, though since there were people who hadn't come to the meeting, and worked in and near the world trade center.

Anyone remember the watchtower that came out months later w/the towers on the cover?

I'm happy to say it didn't occur to me for a second that it might be Armageddon, or even that other people might think it was. My first thought, as I recall, was "F***ing Arabs!"

    I remember the moment well.

I did think about the big A at this time and did wonder for a split second and only for a split second.

Didn't think so much about Armegeddon being nearer, just our turn to have a hand a experiencing what a large part of the world has already been, for years. We should not feel that we are exempt from some of the same destructive forces that have run rampant in distant lands, just because we live in one of the most privileged of countries. It's a shame that it's taken all this to wake Amerikka to their sense, however, the reality of what's truly important has come to be a lot clearer for me. Stay close to your loved ones, family members. Life, as short as it already is, can be made even shorter.

Everyday presents to us all, the possibility of being painted into a situation that has absolutely nothing to do with us. This has been a belief that I've owned even before September 11, 2001. Every time I walk out my front door, I recognise that I may never return. Circumstances beyond our control. Time and Chance, or as we were so eloquently taught in the KH, time and unforseen occurence, befall us all. Enjoy as responsibly as possible, the life that is yours right now. Tomorrow is promised, but there's no guarantee whatsoever that you'll have a part in it.

No, the Twin Towers has nothing to do with Armageddon.

My view is that we live in a world of infinite possibilities. Therefore, the infinitively good can happen but on the other hand the infinitive bad also happens.
