Just as surely as there is a place of eternal bliss called heaven, there is a place of everlasting punishment called hell.

It's not a popular subject, but you must be aware of it.

The Bible tells us about a man who went there.

And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. Luke 16:22-24

When he saw sunbathers basking in 85 degree Hawaiian sunshine, he snickered to his wife, "I don't believe a place that beautiful really exists." Well, Hawaii does exist, whether he believes it or not. So does heaven.

And so does the Magnificent Palace of the Invisible Pink Unicorn (PBUH). Still haven't figured out how it works, have you hib?

Hell....

This gruesome place of eternal torment was prepared for the devil and his angels (Matthew 25:41). Satan knows he will eventually be condemned there (Isaiah 14:15, Revelation 20:10).

Satan wants people to go in hell with him too that is why we have so much evil. That is why he is succeeding in getting people to believe there is no God. It's easy to think there is no God because you can't see Him - yet He is all around.

God is good. Satan is evil.

There are some fairly sound scholarly methods that Christians use to try to sort out which bits of the Bible are myth, history, symbolic, hyperbole etc. Did Jesus really mean for us to pluck out an eye if it causes us to sin. If you take too much literally, you will find contradiction upon contradiction, and you will be no better than JWs at deciding to accept and preach about only those parts that fit with your beliefs, and ignoring, rejecting or distorting those that do not.

Again, for those who do not believe in the Bible, or think it nothing other than fiction or mythology, your scriptures have no merit. Just like someone reading from Lord of the Rings knows that it's fiction. Just because someone wants to believe so strongly doesn't necessarily make it so. I don't know what I believe yet but I do know this: No one will get me to believe anything by cramming it down my throat, or saying, "You'll burn in hell if you don't believe!" If God is that hateful to punish me eternally because of the suffering I've been through, this person who's supposed to know it all, then I don't want any part of him anyway.

Well said Chia. Belief linked to fear of punishment or desire for reward in unChristian and unBiblical. That is what the Bible really teaches (for those who believe and understand it at a spiritual, not just literal level, learned from the holy spirit)
