Bro you're not for real are you?

LOL Why did I think Hib is a guy?

Perhaps because most women I know have more sense and are not as dogmatic as this.

You mentioned sacrifice. You have just illustrated how fundamentalists do not understand the meaning of sacrifice throughout scriptures. Have you studied the work of Christian and other experts in this field? Evidently not. Can I recommend a good Bible commentary?

Imagine an inmate sitting on death row. He is about to be executed when the warden appears at his cell with an official pardon signed by the governor.

All this condemned man must do is accept the pardon and he can waltz out of prison a free man. But suppose he rejects the pardon and is executed.

Is it the governor's fault? No. He did everything he could, but his offer was rejected.

Our eternal destiny is the same. We can accept God's offer, or we can reject it and suffer the consequences.

The choice is ours. What could be more fair? Soon, you will have an opportunity to choose heaven as your eternal home. If we do nothing, hell is where we will go.

Nice analogy. It needs a little tweaking to properly reflect your belief system though. How about this? You're sitting at home watching TV and someone comes to your door. You assume they're collecting for charity or something because they seem a bit slow. "Great news" says the caller. "The governor has pardoned you!" You look at the visitor blankly. "Pardoned me from what?" you ask. "From execution of course" he cries excitedly.. "Why would I be executed?" "It's the law. When the town was founded, there was a dispute over the election and the governor sentenced everyone to death." "Why on earth would he do something like that?" "He had to. It was the law." "But didn't he write the law?" The interloper looks confused. "But it's the law", he replies lamely. "Look". And he shows you a book which has "Town Law" written on the cover. "Well, OK then. I'm not sure that makes any sense. But why have I been pardoned?" "You're not pardoned yet. First you have to believe that the governor's son was murdered." "What? I never heard anything about that." "Oh yes, and if you don't believe it, the governor won't be able to save you." "But he's the governor. He can choose to enforce the law or not." "Yes, but all he's asking is that you believe his son was murdered. Otherwise, he'll have to have you executed even though he doesn't want to." "OK, where's the evidence for this. It should have been on the news, no?" "It's written in this book" "Ah, the book again. Did the governor really write that?" "Of course he did. Look, you're making it really difficult for him to save you. Why won't you just believe?" "Well, it sounds like complete nonsense, to be honest." "You'll be executed if you keep talking like that." Flecks of saliva appear at the corner of the stranger's mouth as he says this. By this time, you've had enough. "I think you should leave, you freak" and you shut the door. As he goes down the path, you hear him call to your neighbour. "Good news, the governor has pardoned you!"

    Forgiveness and blood.

    I want mercy, not sacrifice.

Stop judging and you will not be judged.

Thats brilliant. It sums up how JWs (Hib seems to be one) understand the Bible's teaching. Hey, can I copy that without infringing your copyright

Um, I don't think you can call what has been transpiring talked to, or speech, or conversation.

She has pontificated, talked at, rambled on.

But she disappears for an hour or so to gather up more worthless platitudes and verses so she can post them and call it "teaching". She doen't engage in conversation she only posts canned verses and their meaning. She starts a thread in bad faith and then proceeds to bluggeon everyone.

Her faith is so strong it moves her to get off the couch and moves her to the internet to preach. That or her doctors won't let her out on her own. She is very savant like.

however what is really going on is that the guy in the cell next to you is saying you have been pardoned because of the writting he shows you on a roll of toilet paper that he got from another guy down the corridor who swears it came directly from a guy who can pardon you, who you have never met and have no valid reason to believe exists.

But arent you just a bit jealous of people like this who are so sure that their version of truth is indeed truth. Such certainty must be nice for a while. Who said ignorance is bliss? Were you ever happy as a JW 'knowing' that you had the truth. I bet many of you have been in Hibs shoes... no?

I learn more truth when I am quiet and listening than when I am spouting off, so I'll shut up now (I learned this from z on a post last week)
