forgive me if i am mistaken, but one word i have not seen in this thread is "Meme".

of you look into memes a bit, the jesus story starts to look just like that, a story. a well evolved meme. very powerful. has the ability to survive and adapt. get's to the root of a lot of human psychology. transmitted as "truth" (difference between it and regular stories found in books). -
