I guess you did also give us CHiPs, Magnum, and the Bionic Man,so you may be forgiven

Don't forget about the Bionic Woman.

Did "BJ and the Bear" and "Sheriff Lobo" make it over there? How about cartoons, did you get any of our economical Hanna-Barbera animation(they were recycling long before it was fashionable).

    Cartoons, Hmmmm.

We had Yogi Bear, The Flintstones and Huckleberry Hound.
We also had Topcat, Hong Kong Phooey, Secret Squirrel, Captain Caveman, Penelope Pitstop, Dastardly and Mutley, and all the regular Looney Tunes and Disney cartoons.

    LT

Slightly off topic but ah well.

I have friends in Hawick and they are great but their accent is extremely difficult to understand (to me a northerner anyway), they are good though they do hold back from speaking as they would normally in their own locality and they do speak a little more slowly which helps people like me to understand what names I am being called, otherwise their tirade of friendly abuse would be meaningless wouldnt it.

I think possibly because of the regional variations of accents the english language is generally overall difficult to understand; I have some US clients who constantly ask me to repeat myself...and I dont have that broader northern accent and speak relatively good English.

Crumpet however you must work on that cockney accent...very poor for a southerner...heheh.

LT - I adore your insults and little digs - its like being teased by my (much) older brother!

However I am not from Nottingham, nor am I from the south (although like LT I have adopted the accent of my area of residence), - I am from Liverpool!

Actually a small confession - a lot of the time I haven't a clue what my BF, who is Scottish, is saying to me and neither does his daughter - hence confusion reigns in our household.

    ME/Daughter : Darling/Daddy - can I borrow fifty quid for wine/fifty p for sweets?

    BF/Dad: No

ME/Daughter: Great thanks, I'll just help myself .... don't get up!

I vaguely remember Bj and the Bear...cheeky title for an immature Lad like me!

I dont recall Sheriff Lobo..but ive heard it mentioned in the Simpsons.

LT: "Captain Caveman", yes! How could I forget about him?

Fleaman: "Sheriff Lobo" was a spinoff of "BJ and the Bear"(trucker and his monkey driving around and solving people's problems). In the 70's every successful(and some that weren't) series had to have at least one spinoff show.

Speaking of cartoons, was Snagglepuss supposed to be English, or just gay? (I kid, I kid!!!)

ZOINKS! How could I forget Captain Caveman. I wanted to be the babe that wasnt black or blonde (because I wasnt black or blonde so identiied with her by default). Worryingly I think I was more like Thelma off Scooby Doo, even though I did my best to be like Daphne. (theres nothing wrong with being in love with a cartoon, wasnt Fred gorgeous?)

If there was something funny at KH that you werent supposed to laugh at everyones shoulders would go up and down but no sound would come out - just like they do on the cartoons when they are laughing but the sound is off!!!

    Life imitates art...
