Do you think the WTS will ever seriously start DA'ing faders?

Some have indicated that this might be coming. Based mostly on the new book - some think maybe the org is positioning itself to remove all possible 'doubters' and 'inside apostates' this way.

I mean - having spent four decades watching the actions of this organization as a witness, I can see something like that happening perhaps.

    Service Meeting announcement;

Having had six months to renew his association actively with Jehovah's witnesses, and having not been to a meeting or out in service for that same time span, we must announce that ____________ has left the organization and shown by his actions that he is no longer one of Jehovah's witnesses.

The Brothers and Sisters need to be reiminded that he should be treated 'as a man of the nations' - full shunning is in effect!

Refreshments in the back after the meeting for those wishing to celebrate! Thank Jehovah for his kind protection from these unholy influences and those 'overtaken by the Devil'.

Remember field service arrangements this weekend with your Book Study group and here at the hall - 0900. Let's get those placements up and those sheeplike ones gathered.

After the song we would ask Brother Seth Righteous to please thank Jehovah for us. Song # 110 - Please stand!

    I think NO.

Well, I think they might start doing it to current faders as a way of warning everyone else, but I cant see them going back and making an announcement about historical faders like me.

Only because I think there would be such a long list to read out it would look fanatical, and also would look ever so slightly ridiculously like slamming the stable door years after the horse had bolted. I think that would be counter productive in terms of keeping people in. Also if they did it to all historical faders, well virtually every family still in the hall, including elders, would have relatives names read out. I dont think some people would be too happy about that.

Yes, they need to keep faders away from the flock.

The society knows faders have stopped attending meeting and field service for a reason, mainly they have serious doubts, and these doubts are very dangerous to the WT and can easily be passed on to others in the cong, so the society must take a stand to keep the cong clean and DA you for fading, with the new announcement style no one will know if you sinned and were df'd or you just simply decided to stop drinking the kool-aid, either way, you must be treated as a df'd person and would be shunned by all, thus ending or at least extremely limiting your ability to communicate your "apostate" thinking to others. The society is bleeding to death thanks to the internet.

I agree with that KK - I doubt they will go back ten years or anything like that - but I think the recent bleed-out has been great enough to raise alarm bells.

DL76 - I tend to think so too - I think maybe they will limit to those who they fear have doubts - those who just fall off the radar screen pose no real threat, and might be left alone and watched for signs of trouble before action is taken?

    Totally agreed here.

    Protecting the flock...bollocks...protecting themselves.

Not yet and not likely as long as they have to use the elders to do it. I can see the elders dragging their feet like they do with many directives, oh suggestions from on high.

All it takes is one person to "poison" the cong.

Here is a scenario: Brother Smith, pious is he, raised a JW, aux pioneered and even made it to elder, a true pillar in the cong. One day brother Smith casually speaks with his childhood friend Bob, growing up they went to the same cong and were best of friends, but Bob choose to slowly fade away, beacuse he had " serious doubts". Bob had read some stuff on the internet about 607 & the UN, Bob confides these doubts to his old friend brother Smith.

What are the possible outcomes here?

#1. Brother Smith turns in his childhood friend for "Apostacy".

#2. Brother Smith says "what?"... "Where did you hear that?" and researches further on his own.

#3. Brother Smith does nothing, simply gives Bob some friendly counsel, after all this is his childhood friend.

For starters, I can't ever see them serving refreshments.

The rest, while plausible, is doubtful, at least in the foreseeable future. It creates problems possibly for shut-ins or the infirmed, though I'd imagine that the elders would take circumstances into consideration. It also creates problems for the emotionally or mentally ill. For example, in one congregation I was in there was an elder's wife who hardly ever came - and once when she did, she had to leave very soon after the meeting began. Certainly they wouldn't consider such a person DA'd.

However, if those little problems could be side-stepped, it may be something that could one day happen. After all, they've already gone from not bothering inactives to suddenly being quite worried about them. And they DF smokers after a six-month window. So the six-month chance at reprieve plus a concern about inactives could perhaps one day morph into some new little WTS monster.

if they DA all the faders their memorial numbers would drop cuz all the faders would be pissed off and hence the big night of contributions would fall short.

    it aint gonna happen .
