Thanks for this ithinkisee; the summary is fantastic and especially appreciated the bit where you highlighted the smash em down and build em up type bollocks they have been preaching for years.
My biggest bug bear with the WTS is their stance on education and you really have hit the nail on the head with this, I cant believe they have been so brazen as to tell half the truth about their intentions in this regard, their point is that educated people in their view are a threat and they would prefer to have uneducated people who refuse to test, question or challenge them.
As for their comment about educated people not being able to follow...thats bollocks too...I work with a team of highly educated and highly qualified guys and girls who are fantastic...they do follow but only when the leadership make decisions which do not offend their intellect or common sense and that is the difference; our environment at work is centred around empowerment, interaction, and where necessary challenge which ensures that unintelligent and stupid decisions are not followed through....(well hardly any anyway LOL)
What the WTS should have said is that educated people will not follow blindly and they cant accept that.
Thanks for the convention(al) highlights!
What I got from your notes was;
JWs are undeserving of the undeserved kindness of Jehovah.
Being poor and under-educated is a blessing.
Blind obedience to the WTS is mandatory.
Fridays and Saturdays are reserved for the real JWs who attend.
Sunday is the day of rest because of the new ones, studies and interested persons who may be there and they don't want to let the cat out of the bag just yet as to what they will actually be in for.
Dramas are a more subtle way of browbeating the slaves and possible converts. Everyone enjoys the Dramas---don't they?

I haven't attended a convention since 1998, and from what I can see-----not ONE thing has changed!
And the WTS has the nerve to churn these things out year after year---AND call them "new" information!!!!!
Sounds like the same old regurgitated, stale, scraped up and dried up vomit from years past.
It feels SOOOOO good NOT to be expected to sit through that any more!!

I absolutely have no regrets for missing one of the 81 assemblies I have missed. the money went to traveling all over and I have no regrets.
and I have no regrets.
Atta boy!!!! (giggle)
Do I get a badge or something?
Here you go..
To most of us it is of course quite obvious why the Watchtower Society prefer their "faithful" to have as little education as possible, but it is still very rare to see this expressed so blunt and honest as here:
"In the world, there is a tendency to reject leadership. As one lecturer said: "The rising education level has improved the talent pool such that followers have become so critical that they are almost impossible to lead." But a spirit of independent thinking does not prevail in God's organization, and we have sound reasons for confidence in the men taking the lead among us." (The Watchtower, September 15, 1989, p. 23, ยง13)
Imagine that! Education promotes critical thinking and makes people so smart that they stop to blindly follow their hypocritical religious or political leaders. And thinking people are (gasp, choke) "almost impossible to lead"!
Our last district assembly was the summer of 1986. We had 2 boys under the age of 5 and one on the way. I remember it was melting hot. We both sat and listened to the same droning on and on about the same meaningless dribble they fed us with every time......As we tried to keep our boys from climbing the seats and under the seats... we looked at each other and said .."Lets get out of here".. We packed up and I could hear the drone of the speaker ,,,but not hearing one word..... We felt so free and like we had just woken up from a bad dream.... That was the last meeting we ever attended....... and....NO Regrets!!!!!!!

regarding your remark on resurrection at the DC; did u notice the last 3 WT studies on the resurrection and the emphasis on "opening your eyes and seeing.." then the new system. they know that with the new generation understanding, that the majority of JW's are going to die before this system ends(if it ever does), so they are preparing the flock. no more "millions now living wil never die" crap!
my wife and i are going to take notes at our DC. she's going to take REAL notes, and im going to count the references to "the organization", "the FDS", and compare them to "the bible says", and "god says" and im going to count how many times they say "history/the evidence shows that...." without telling what the history or evidence is. guess who will have the most notes?(unless i fall asleep..again)
"the emphasis on 'opening your eyes and seeing..' then the new system."
According to how the Watchtower explains it, they should really say "emphasis on the idea of a clone waking up, who has all of your memories, and who will see the new system."
Sorta takes away the anticipation, doesn't it?
