Could we be right, and they be right too?

I sometimes ask this question myself, too. I think it's a valid and common question for those who have been where we have.

I've sometimes used the Heaven's Gate cult mass suicide to reason this one out to myself.

The Hale Bopp comet didn't hit earth when they were expecting it, they "hurried" their next life by committing suicide. But there was one fellow who didn't think it was his time to go, didn't die with the others, and became the spokesperson for those who had died. To this date (as far as I know) he still holds the beliefs of Heavens Gate as true, and still thinks his leader (that old bald guy) is a chosen one. Please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong on this.

But, I figure if this guy could be so brainwashed into still believing after most of his group has died by suicide, maybe we're just that brainwashed, too?

JH, I have thought about that at times too. I have decided no way can they be the true religion. They destroy families, take away free-will, brainwash their followers, and just do things that any God I would want to serve wouldn't do.

Maybe Satan made up this religion to try and deceive us all, could that be it? yeah, that must be it!

But Jesus said to him, "Do not forbid him, for he who is not against us [ c ] is on our [ d ] side."

I asked that question once to the witneses, and they answered me this....

But Jesus did say afterwards.... 30 He that is not on my side is against me, and he that does not gather with me scatters.

I hope the following helps you in your quest:

20 But the prophet who dares to speak in My name a message I have not commanded him to speak, or who speaks in the name of other gods—that prophet must die.’
21 You may say to yourself, ‘How can we recognize a message the Lord has not spoken?’
22 When a prophet speaks in the Lord’s name, and the message does not come true or is not fulfilled, that is a message the Lord has not spoken. The prophet has spoken it presumptuously. Do not be afraid of him.
    Deut 18:20-22 (HCSB)

15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. 16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? 17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
    Matt 7:15-17 (KJV)
20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
    Matt 7:20 (KJV)

27 The anointing you received from Him remains in you, and you don’t need anyone to teach you. Instead, His anointing teaches you about all things, and is true and is not a lie; just as it has taught you, remain in Him.
    1 John 2:27 (HCSB)

10 “But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel

after those days,” says the Lord:

“I will put My laws into their minds,

and I will write them on their hearts,

and I will be their God,

and they will be My people.

11 And each person will not teach his fellow citizen,

and each his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’

because they will all know Me,

from the least to the greatest of them.

    Heb 8:10-11 (HCSB)

10 Love consists in this: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
11 Dear friends, if God loved us in this way, we also must love one another.
12 No one has ever seen God. If we love one another, God remains in[7] Or remains among us and His love is perfected in us.

13 This is how we know that we remain in Him and He in us: He has given to us from His Spirit.
14 And we have seen and we testify that the Father has sent the Son as Savior of the world.
15 Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God—God remains in him and he in God.
16 And we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and the one who remains in love remains in God, and God remains in him.

    1 John 4:10-16 (HCSB)

8 On the contrary, what does it say? The message is near you, in your mouth and in your heart. This is the message of faith that we proclaim:
9 if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
10 With the heart one believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth one confesses, resulting in salvation.
11 Now the Scripture says, No one who believes on Him will be put to shame,
12 for there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, since the same Lord of all is rich to all who call on Him.
13 For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.
    Romans 10:8-13 (HCSB)

18 For to those who are perishing the message of the cross is foolishness, but to us who are being saved it is God’s power.

    1 Cor 1:18 (HCSB)

There is no way the apostate teachings, unscriptural practices and lack of love they show others can make them 'right' according to God's Word. You can believe what the Bible says or you can believe what the WTNTS says but if you try to believe both at the same time the cognitive dissonance can drive you out of your mind.

Is it possible that just about everything we say about the JW's on this forum is true, but on the other hand they would be the only true religion that God approves, even though they are imperfect and make errors?

The difference is essential to understand.

Jehovah's Witnesses call their errors and their opinions the very truth from Jehovah personally given through them.

Their mistakes, errors, false suppositions and utter nonsense is passed off IN THE NAME OF JEHOVAH.

Isn't that important? Here is an analogy: A Pharmacist looks at a prescription and can't quite make out the doctor's writing but insists he can read it and dispense medicine accurately. If the patient gets very sick or dies as a result it is not just human error but willful hubris. But, if that same Pharmacist tells the customer, "Look, I THINK this is what the doctor prescribed, but, I could be wrong"....do you think the patient will then take the medicine with the same confidence as before?

If they did not have the Faithful and Discreet Slave doctrine backing them up they'd just be simple humans making their best guess.

But, the way they represent their authority as JEHOVAH'S organization creates utter depravity in their wrong-headed crap.

False Prophets are not to be listened to or feared.

I guess what i dont get is if the gb, and the wts is really directed by Jehovah, then where do all these mistakes fit in? How is it even possible? Did Jah direct them to get a library card with the un? Did he tell them them the dates that were wrong? Did he direct them to cover up child abuse? No! So maybe his spirit is not with them?

The witnesses will admit that everything they print isn't inspired.

And what they say door to door and during Sunday's talk isn't more inspired.

Just the bible is inspired, but the interpretation isn't....

False Prophets are not to be listened to or feared.

Deut. 18 states this in the same blunt terms. Common sense, too, isn't it? So there's the answer to the thread's question.
