I recieved an email from a friend at the DC who I encouraged to attend college. He has been going for the last year and has really come out of his shell. His family are all dubs but he's not baptized yet. I warned him about the college bashing at the DC and this was part of his email to me tonite.
"I kind of remember hearing some junk about the college stuff today,
I also heard the qauntifier: not that it's a sin. It almost sounds
like the thing that is said about gays: not that there's anything wrong
with that.
I hope I am in time for the 4400, and I don't think the guilt trip
works if you aren't listening."
Good sign I'd say. Not everyone is soaking this crap up.
(Anyone else watching the 4400? Just side question.)

The WTS is a teisted organization , they twist the scriptures to suit themselves, they twist the truht as they see fit, now withe these modern/ancient dramas they twist reality and history although it's nothing new for them. Years ago they had a BS drama about Noah and some other person who was thinking of getting on board the ark but change his mind at the last moment...
Why do they hate education...because the more a person learns from sources outside the WTS the dumber they look.
I wonder where the non college educated kids are now, who took heart of this message 34 years ago? The ones who did not take notice may be in the Brooklyn Legal or I T dept. I an sure there are older references but this is what the cd rom came up with.

g71 6/8 p. 8 Second Thoughts About a College Education ***Parents who are Jehovah’s witnesses have another very sound reason for channeling their children’s lives into useful trades. They know from fulfilled Bible prophecy that today’s industrial society is near its end. Soon it will be given its death stroke by Almighty God himself. (Prov. 2:20, 21; 1 John 2:17) After that, in God’s new order a reconstruction work will be done to transform this entire earth into a paradise. (Luke 23:43) Trades of many types will be very useful then, as will skills in agriculture and homemaking. So by guiding their children away from the so-called ‘higher’ education of today, these parents spare their children exposure to an increasingly demoralizing atmosphere, and at the same time prepare them for life in a new system as well.
Good find BluesBrother,
Talk about incorrect, wrong advice based upon fantasy views of the writer.
They can dish out wrong advice, but will they ever take responsibility for giving it? The answer is a resounding NO!
I wonder if the Awake! writer who wrote that back in 1971 is even still alive? It they are, it would be interesting to track them down and confront them with the promises they wrote 34 years ago. What would they say about what they wrote?

Reminds me of the 2001 drama (Korah, Nadab, Abiram, Moses).
At one point in the drama, one of the rebels refers to Moses (in an unintentionally-comical sneering voice) as being a "self-appointed" leader. Wha?? Where did they get that from? I must have missed that scripture! LOL
It was so obviously put there as a subtle reference to -- and an attempt to equate the rebels with -- modern-day Apostates™ who criticize the borg's trumped up self-importance and imaginary authority.
It was all so stupid. That was my last DC. :)
it is a drama with the WTS. There was a time where high education was banned and people with that level had no chance to climb the ladder of the carrier in the cong.
Some yeears ago WTS demonstrated everywhere that they are in accordance to the world as they longed for the public aceptance as church ( eg in Germany)
so they threw on their DCs in demonstrations a lot of young people, all with high shcool level, to show that the doctrine is not against bettereducation.
When you read the WT from the WT study today you can read in the study article that JW parents also take care for a good education fior their children.
And we need in a globalizing world better chances for our children - even when Armageddon is at hand.
who does know when and how will someone take care for his family, being present in all meetings and have enough income to visit congresses?
All they want from you is gtto make the impossible possible.
it is an only anachronism.
