i live in your country. the grocery store is on my way home from work, so it's convenient that way. plus i live central, so everything is biking distance. i admit it's hard though, especially in the winter.
OOOOOPS.

I still maintain we have to travel too far for our foodstuffs. Wal-Mart and Superstore and all that. I mean, we INVENTED the chest freezer out here in the prairies. Put a quarter moose in there. Stock the shelves with chokecherry jam and saskatoon preserves and zucchini pickles.
Dan, that sucks. We have curbside pickup here. One week it's regular trash, the next recyclables. Different companies pick it up. The only thing that annoys me about our system is that any apartment buildings over 4 units are not serviced by the municipality. Landlords usually provide one kind of dumpster, and are not required to have recycling dumpsters. So, if you live in an apartment, the onus is on you to get your trash to the recycling depot ~ not fair to tenants, many of whom don't have vehicles. So I have little choice but to put my stuff into the landfill.
A weekly trip to the grocery store is often enough to avoid using prepackaged foods. It's the time spent in prep that can be difficult. I find it's good to take one evening or a sunday morning, and cook while cleaning up, net surfing, etc. Some stuff will be frozen, some just stored in the fridge. It's cheaper, too. (lol, I just did my weekly laundry and cooking, which reminds me, I must bring in my bbq before it gets stolen!)
