Yes, absurd. Yes, true. It's about Santa and Rudolf or is it Rudolph and toys and commercialism and spending lots of money, presents and all that with Jesus mixed in there somewhere.

Where I work, we sell Santas, reindeer and Angels and nativity scenes. We sell religious christmas and we sell fun, commercial christmas. So yeah, it's absurd, but it's true.

Flyin', who loves all of it, the whole shebang. Who can decorate a tree and then go to Midnight Mass at the *gasp* Episcopal Church who allowed a gay Bishop to be ordained and still thinks Jesus loves her, 'cause she thinks Jesus loves every single body on this earth, even pagans and muslims and atheists.

Hib - I know you think that you have it right - but 2000 years ago Jesus did not use 'Jesus' in referring to himself. The word Christ was not a Hebrew word either - so where are you coming from with this level of judgment?

I am a Christian - I left Jehovah's witnesses because they do not honor Christ properly in my opinion. [ one of the reasons ] I might chose to not even celebrate Christmas due to it's pointed out pagan attachments. I do not seek to dishonor Christ.

So how do you lump all that abbreviate a holiday in one catagory? - most of us left that judging behind. Jesus Christ told you to do the same my friend and sister in the Lord.

I think we're missing the big picture here guys. She's not listned one iota to any posts here. The more we respond to her with logical arguments, the more she thinks she's becoming a marter. If we were to either ignore her or agree with her, she'd have left long ago. The truth is, this type of personality likes conflict, and more concerned with proving its superiority than being Christian or finding truth. I add my vote for the suggestion that we all ignore her, until she learns to communicate. Otherwise, while this might be temporarily entertaining, we're just wasting our time.

I wholeheartedly agree jd. This is not about the truth, it's about her viewpoint being the only correct one, and about her being a good Christian or even a better Christian than those who disagreed with her about the 'seriousness' and correctness of her issue. This is Hibs issue, but she wants to make it Jesus' issue and our issue. She made the statement initially and has doggedly held onto its importance for 2 days and 16 pages and counting. Even going so far as to say who should and should not celebrate Christmas. What's the point? Such arrogance .

If you're gonna start a thread about honouring Christ's name, perhaps you should behave in such a way as to honour his name. Have you tried to see someone else's perspective on this issue?
